The University of Victoria Particle Physics Group has an immediate opening for a postdoctoral Research Associate to participate in the T2K long baseline neutrino oscillation experiment.

The group, in close collaboration with the TRIUMF laboratory in Vancouver, is leading the construction of the Time Projection Chambers (TPCs) for the near detector of the T2K experiment. These large volume TPCs are scheduled for installation in Japan in 2009. The group is also involved in the development of a TPC as the central tracker of an experiment at the International Linear Collider. 

The successful candidate will be involved in cosmic ray and beam tests of the TPCs and contribute to the development of TPC software and physics analyses for the T2K experiment. For a small fraction of his/her time, the candidate will be expected to contribute to the development of TPC software for the ILC.

Candidates should have recently completed a PhD in experimental subatomic physics by the time of the appointment. Experience with gaseous detectors and with object-oriented software design would be an asset. To apply, send a CV and arrange to have at least three letters of recommendation sent to:
