Meeting Agenda

Rolf gave a report on his studies on Noise Tools (see his transparencies). He notes that the tool name given in the job must exactly match the tool declared. Noted that the CaloNoiseTool has several different features (such as MC functionality), but is not very simple to use. He proposes to create a new noise tool that would simply return the noise, and would have the ability to get the noise from a text file for 2002 data. To preserve the functionality of CaloNoiseTool, he indicated there would need to be a wrapper for CaloNoiseTool. Kai suggested that rather than a wrapper, could just have another instance of the tool and have the old CaloNoiseTool inherit from the new simple version. The timeline would be to have it ready for after Rome.

Michel and Rob had some discussion regarding the functionality of such a tool: have noise as a function of luminosity, how to measure noise at low luminosity, random triggers, minimum bias triggers. Rolf's design for a simple tool was supported, and the conclusion was to submit this proposal to Calo Perf meetings and to Sven and Peter Loch, and get feedback.

AOB: Rob reported that he's calculating OFCs for H6 and H8 2004 testbeams using the pulse shape analysis that Manuella/Monika have done.
