introduction

Prototypes of the hadronic endcap calorimeter were tested in beams since 1996. Beam tests of the production modules have started in June 1999. A simple offline software package was designed to allow easy access to the beam test data. The hec_adc package is designed as a simple and hopefully clear fortran framework to allow access to the hec beam test data, before suitable Object Oriented code is available. The following wish list of goals inspired the development of the hec_adc package:

  • easy access to the HEC testbeam data
  • independent code development by users
  • easy implementation of matured development code
  • easy maintenance

The hec_adc package also supports "online" monitoring in the form of a fast on-the-spot offline analysis package with PAW based interacting histogram display facility.
