Keeler , Randy Sobie , Dave Axen , losty@triumf.ca, Monika Wielers , Naoko KANAYA , Mike Vetterli Cc: nkanaya@UVic.CA, "Vincter, Manuella -- Manuella Vincter" , Manuella Vincter Subject: Minutes of HEC software meeting Dear HEC Group, Here are the minutes for Wednesday May 17, 2001. Attending: C. Oram, M. Fincke, M. Lefebvre, R. Keeler, R. Sobie, D. Axen, M. Losty, M. Wielers, N. Kanaya, M. Vetterli. The meeting followed a tutorial on Athena led by Monika on Tuesday. Monika did a great job taking some of us through the material. Early Wednesday morning there was a premeeting about cfi applications. Copies of the transparencies are being sent to each person attending. Start 10:30 AM 1. Randy started off the meeting by telling us about the liquid argon database. There is effort needed here. Contact Randy if you are interested in working on this. 2. Randy told us about his GRID work. An application will be put into NSERC for more funds for this effort. Randy has been invited to talk at the HPCC this June. This work is being done with Asoke de Silva and Bob Kowalewski. 3. Michel spoke to us about the hec-adc program and the initial effort to convert the program to OO. The work is concentrating on reading EPIO files in C++. 4. Margret spoke to us about developing a map of the FORTRAN hec-adc program with the idea of using this as a start to design an OO version. 5. Naoko showed us her code to read EPIO files using a C++ routine. Her next effort will be to put the data into the Athena temporary data store (TDS). There was a lively discussion of what exactly should go into the TDS. Monika and Michel made several useful suggestions. 6. Randy talked about the milestone to develop an EPIO converter by the July LArg week. Annecy is working on an Objectivity converter. MySQL bookkeeping is being added. 7. Monika gave us her thoughts on whether we should us Athena as the framework for the OO-hec-adc software. It was agreed that we would use Athena. 8. Richard explained what was being done to understand the electronics. 9. Dave spoke about importing CERN/ATLAS software to our local computers. It was agreed that we would need local capability by the end of 2001. 10. NEXT MEETING Tuesday June 12 in Victoria, 10:00-4:00. End of meeting 3:30 PM. The next meeting will consist of Progress report by anyone wishing to contribute plus any other talks you would like to hear. Please send me suggestions for the agenda. Perhaps someone attending ATLAS week would volunteer to tell us about it. Cheers, Richard
