HEC1 C wheel rotated
August 2002

Pictures sent by Roy of the hadronic endcap calorimeter first wheel (HEC1 C) completed, moved from the Support Stand and rotated in the building 180 at CERN, 29 August 2002. This is major milestone for the HEC project!
A few comments from Roy:
"The table deformation was measured when it was carrying the 70 tonne load. At 90 degrees to the lifting points there was a sag of 3.1mm. My gut feeling was thinking about 4mm so it was gratifying to see no major droop! However, there was significant movement of the side 'trunnion plates'. The top of the plates are approx. one metre above the surface of the table. and the deflection was measured to be 14mm each side. Ouch!! We are planning a bridging brace for next time.
After rotation, the deformation of the 'trunnion plates' had returned close to their original dimension; just a 3mm deflection. The dimension over the sliding rails was 4255mm before rotation, and is now 4257mm."

Fully rotated first wheel all wrapped up.
