HEC2 A wheel on T6
August 2004

Pictures sent by Roy of the hadronic endcap calorimeter rear wheel (HEC2) on the second cryostat (A) on T6, in building 180 at CERN, 24 August 2004, nearly two years after the first wheel was put on T6 (on 26 September 2002).
A few words of wisdom from Roy:

"This week has started off very well. The HEC2 'A' wheel was lifted off the Support Stand yesterday morning and by last night it was sitting bolted to T6. Today has seen the removal of the Assembly Table from the rear face of the wheel and the repositioning of the Table on the Support Stand. I guess rotating a wheel is 'old hat' now ..... no-one comes to watch the spectacle these days!!
The survey of the wheel is scheduled to start on Thursday morning."

The initial movement of the HEC2 'A' wheel and Assembly Table away from the Support Stand.

In this view, the HEC2 'A' wheel has been withdrawn from the HEC assembly area of the clean room and is now aligned ready to approach T6 which is located behind the camera.

Immediately in front of T6, the HEC2 'A' wheel was rotated to the vertical orientation. The image illustrates the partial rotation of the device.

This image shows the former underside of the Assembly Table and the rear face of the HEC2 'A' wheel. The whole structure has been lowered on to the T6 support ledges and has been bolted into position.

The Assembly Table/Rotator structure has been withdrawn to show the rear face of the HEC2 'A' wheel.
