PACHENA POINT

During a Sunday drive to Bamfield and Pachena Bay, I decided to leave the family beach combing after lunch at Pachena Beach and explore a bit of the famous West Coast Trail from its northern terminus. This part of the West Coast Trail is broad, level, and very easy walking, although not nearly as interesting as the parts further south. I passed a trail sign for Pachena Lighhouse, distance 10 km, and decided that that would make an interesing destination. Since I had to be back to Pachena Beach in time to make the long drive back across the Island before supper, I kept up a faster than usual pace. Some people I passed even asked if I was training for speed walking. To date, this is the only part of the West Coast Trail I've hiked.
