Dear ATLAS Canada colleagues,

The next ATLAS Canada physics workshop is fast approaching.
See the workshop web page

http://particle.phys.uvic.ca/atlas/events/PhysicsWorkshop2006/

for more details, including the recent bulletins for the meeting which can be found under "Announcements" near the top of the page.

The meeting will be Monday 11 December (starting at 10 AM) and Tuesday 12 December (finishing by 5 PM). The agenda page for the meeting can also be reached from the workshop web page under "AGENDA" near the top of the page, or directly at

http://indico.cern.ch/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=5245

We anticipate an introduction including an invited theory talk, sessions on commissioning, reconstruction and calibration (including testbeam), plus of course physics.

Please send requests for talks as soon as possible to both

lefebvre@uvic.ca and
rmcphers@triumf.ca

We anticipate accepting most requests for talks, but would like to ensure some coherence in case of near duplication.

Monika Wielers and Rolf Seuster will be conducting the software tutorial, which takes place Wednesday 13 December from 09:00 to 16:00. The link to details of the "Trigger Aware Analysis" software tutorial can be found on the workshop web page under "Software Tutorial", or directly at

http://particle.phys.uvic.ca/twiki/bin/view/Main/SoftwareTutorial13Dec06

This page will be augmented in the near future.

For the tutorial, please bring your own laptop:
* DHCP and wireless Ethernet will be provided.
* make sure to have ssh properly installed
* you need to be able to open X11 connections in order to look at the
root histograms!
We anticipate participants to work in groups of two. Each group needs at least one laptop meeting these requirements.

If you cannot bring your own laptop or your laptop does not fulfill these requirements, please let Rolf know well in advance so that a solution can be found. If you have any questions regarding the tutorial, please contact Rolf Seuster at seuster@uvic.ca.

Best regards,
Rob and Michel
