Minutes of the feedthrough meeting of January 4, 2000. Present: AD,MF,GV,PB,PP,MLenc,RK 1. Steel: - Material has arrived - Warm flange steel has gone to EBCO. - A report from Roy on machining follows below. - All other steel was delivered on Wednesday - 2/3 of full order. - No material certification has arrived yet. - Glasseal steel was to be shipped this week for 400 pin carriers. 2. Pin Carriers - All pin carriers are cold cycled and vacuum tested. - 13x8 rows + 11x7 rows - Slot widths were measured by AD. In spec. 3. Machining - Report from Roy: Sicom components: The initial problems they were having in dealing with the ovality of the raw material for the Lower Funnel Tubes has been overcome. They had completed one at the time of my visit (Dec 22nd) to prove out their technique. The surface finish was very good and the part had been inspected by their staff. The aluminum Bolt Rings and the Bellows Cuff Rings had been rough machined and were awaiting some tooling plates for final machining. Low inclusion steel has been shipped to them for partial orders of Seal Rings and Funnel Bases. A letter has been sent to them with an up-dated delivery proposal for these items. N.B. We require some Seal Rings by March 1st to realize our bellows delivery schedule. EBCO components: Work has started on the Ambient Signal Flanges and a "first off" is expected during the week of January 17th. Parts should all be complete by mid-March. Material for the Cold Signal Flange has been received by them. Work will proceed immediately and they expect to deliver the first batch of machined parts also by mid-March (approx 45 pieces). If the remaining material for these flanges is not delivered to their plant by mid-February there could be a long delay in part delivery because of machine scheduling for a another customer. More details from them as the job unfolds. This potential delay should have no impact on our schedule. 4. TIS - Terry has spec from TIS for test pieces. 5. Vacuum Cables - Paul is looking into lubricants - Pin sizes are being measured - Margret will send a sample pin to Bob Evans - RKK will look into drawing contract next week. 6. Feedthrough -1 construction will start. 7. Paul B will find out if Aboud has received pipe. 8. Art work for fan-out and fin-in boards has been received from Christophe. - Pof will get a quote on etching boards. 9. Contact resistance device is being tested. There is a problem scanning the channels. Neil will be back next week. - Keithley ohm meter precision is compromised because of the large resistance of the logic gates used on the board. Neil will see if lower resistance gates are available. Present precision is limited to 1 milliohm. 10. Lab cleaning - RKK has arranged with Alison & facility management to meet at 10:00 AM Thursday Jan 13 to look at lab and find out how it can be cleaned before production starts. (PB and RKK meet at Alison's office at 10:00). Next Meeting - Tuesday January 11, 10:00 am 1. Milestones 2. FCI 3. Feedthrough -1 4. Steel
