Minutes of feedthrough meeting of January 11, 2000. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Present: MGF, GV, PB, Pof, MLenc, RK, TH, RL, JL *) Milestones - - The first Glasseal bill has been paid. We should exercise the `pincarrier delivery status' query in Bonnies's database. - The Rohacell has arrived. It's itchy, but won't rot the brain. *) - The new electrical test station has been set up in the lab, but won't be functional until the network port has been activated. *) PB and Pof carried out some temperature vs current tests for a pincarrier pin / socket combination in vacuum (in the bell jar). The results are summarized here: current (amps) equilibrium temperature (C) ^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ 0.23 26 0.55 31 0.75 36 1.00 41 1.26 49 1.66 69 2.01 85 A 5 amp test was also carried out for a one minute duration, by which time the pin reached a temperature of 207 degrees. Terry suggested we also try placing a pincarrier on the leaktest platter, with two pins on the vacuum side shorted so that current could be passed through the two pins from the top side. This would allow us to check for vacuum leaks after various currents are passed through the pins. *) Chris Oram has informed us that the rumor mill is suggesting that the LARG schedule may slip by 6-8 months from the current nominal LARG schedule. *) Two welders at SM have now been qualified. The two Charpy samples required by TIS are in preparation. *) The `final gland solution' has now been decreed; we'll have a 3/4" tube to weld into our warm flanges. CERN should be requested to supply the gland and tube prewelded so that we can weld the whole assembly to the warm flanges in Victoria. The desired height and orientation of the glands must be communicated to us beforehand. *) Helio at BNL will faxe a copy of the Berg vacuum cable contract to us tomorrow (18 Jan). *) Richard, MGF and Paul^2 will meet on Wednesday to discuss and finalize the HEC pigtail order. *) The lab is to be cleaned next week by facilities management, starting monday 24 Jan at 08:00. The lab should be tidied up before cleaning starts (ie, before the end of this week) and much of the equipment should be covered with poly tarps. *) BOA has invoiced us for three bellows. *) No conductive lubricants will be used on the Berg cables to ease insertion and extraction. The decision was unanimous. *) Two photos of the pigtail cable clamp in place have been posted on http://wwwhep.phys.uvic.ca/~pof/atlas/pics/pigtail_clamp1.jpg and http://wwwhep.phys.uvic.ca/~pof/atlas/pics/pigtail_clamp2.jpg Agenda for next week: ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ - milestones - FT -1 - database - AOB
