Minutes of feedthrough meeting of 25 April, 2000. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Present: GV, AD, Pof, JL, TH, PB, RKK *) Milestones: - The alodined bolt rings have been received. Ten were checked and found to be ok. All others should also be checked. - The HLT 160 leak checker arrived back on tuesday after repairs. The purchase req for the new HLT 270 was delivered to purchasing services, also on tuesday. George Stenning indicated that the order would be placed on the next day. *) BOA informed us that they are having some difficulties leak checking the bellows. Terry has sent them drawings for the leak check jig used at UVIC. BOA will purchase the o-rings required for their leaktest setup. *) The paperwork confirming the shipment of 261 pieces of 7-row pincarrier steel and 417 8-row pincarrier steel has been recieved by Terry, so the bill can now be paid. 135 pieces of 7-row pincarrier steel remain outstanding. *) We still require revised delivery schedules for the pincarriers. Terry is checking up on this. *) The quote for pre-cut heater-resistor pads (for thermal contacts) came in at US$ 0.714 each for 500 pieces, plus a US$ 195.00 setup charge. We will purchase 500 pieces, at a total cost of US$ 552.00. We will also purchase 12 yards (18 inches wide) of thermal contact foam to be placed between the warm flange and heater plate. (10 yards was quoted at US$ 858.00). We should obtain enough of each type ASAP to carry out our final thermal test at the cold station. *) Terry confirmed that the results of the thermal tests carried out during the week of 10 April were as expected. On final thermal test is to be carried out a higher (50 degrees) temperature and with the production thermal contact material. *) There has been an apparent mixup regarding the position labeling of the pigtails being supplied to us from Orsay, with too many of some positions and other positions (1/14/15 A/B) completely absent. Margret will try to sort out the best strategy for fixing the problem while in Geneva, but we will probably end up having to relabel all of the pigtails. *) Bob Evans notified me on tuesday (25 April) that the vacuum cables are `on their way'. So far (28 April) still no cables. *) The funnel bases have not arrived yet. These will have to be sent to SM after arrival for construction of the funnels. *) John will train PB, Pof, AD, and GV on the electrical test VI's and procedures. *) Richard has information indicating that Rohacell expands when dried out (ie, placed in vacuum). We should to do a test in our bell jar to try to quantify the effect, to make sure that it does not pose a problem. *) Our present flange heater design does not allow enough clearance between the resistors and the glands. The heater design will have to be modified, presumably by milling out the footprints for the resistors. *) Addendum from the minutes of 17 April 2000: - Regarding the faults that occured during cold continuity tests which disappeared after warmup and succesive cooldown, the feedthrough was not warmed to room temperature between tests, but was allowed to warm only to 135 degrees K.
