Minutes of feedthrough meeting of 24 July, 2000. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Present: GV, Pof, MLenc, AD, TH, RM, RKK *) Milestones: - FT0 was welded shut (WarmFlange/Bellows, ColdFlange/Bellows, and ColdFlange/Funnel welds) on Wednesday 19 July, along with pincarriers into one ColdFlange and one WarmFlange. The pincarrier welds and the bellows volume of FT0 were leakchecked, and found to be ok. - Ten T51 calibration pigtails and 20 LV pigtails arrived on 7 July (PO21080). These are the pigtails ordered directly from Axon by us to fill those HEC slots not yet determined when ORSAY ordered the pigtails. Another 10 T51 pigtails and 20 LV pigtails are yet to be delivered, by 30 May 2001. Of course, if we are forced to change the HEC pigtail length due to the `baseplane' issue, these pigtails may in fact not be useable... - Eighteen more bellows arrived on 21 July. - The heater plate / bellows braces order was placed with Southern Cross. - An inline filter to be fitted onto the 200 litre LN2 dewar was ordered last week, along with an assortment of `filter baskets', both wire mesh and sintered SS. The inline filter should ensure that no particulate matter that might be in the LN2 or the dewar gets intoduced onto the feedthrough during the cold tests. *) Aaron, Greg, and Pof have gone through all of the form sheets to bring them up to current standards. Updated documentation will follow. *) Greg, Aaron, and Pof will work on a detailed procedure/checklist for carring out the cold tests. *) No news from Glasseal or BNL regarding the leaky pincarriers. *) Mark will order some VCR glands and gaskets today for carrying out the tests to determine how much the VCR nuts should be tightened without causing damage. Mark will also make some VCR gaskets of some plastic material (polycarbonate, polyethylene, or delrin) to be used to seal the VCR's during FeedThrough testing. *) Mark will build a prototype crate to hold two Standard EM feedthroughs for shipping. We still plan to put 25 to 30 crated feedthroughs into a shipping container for the actual shipment to CERN. For the record, one Standard EM feedthrough weighs in at approximately 50 Kg. *) We will require a heat sealer at CERN (220 V) to reseal the feedthrough bags after vacuum and electrical testing. *) The WarmFlanges have been handed over to Dave Smith to have the holes for the heater plate drilled. Aaron will assist Dave. *) Terry has proposed that one more round of thermal tests be performed to demonstrate that the UVIC heater is capable of holding pincarrier pins at the desired temperature under various conditions, and also to determine the time constants involved in the temperature control system. Terry will prepare a detailed list of the tests to be carried out. *) A web page for the UVIC ATLAS FeedThrough project is currently under construction by Jan. *) Are drawings available yet for the EndCap Pedestal? ROY PLEASE CHECK. *) The AmbientFlange Heater Plates cover the tapped holes which are apparently to be used for manouvering the feedthrough into place for welding onto the cryostat. This implies that the heaters must be installed *after* the feedthroughs are welded onto the cryostat. Is this physically possible, and is there time allocated for this? ROY PLEASE CHECK. Agenda for next week: ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ - Milestones - Progress on ColdTest instructions - Progress on warm flange drilling/tapping - Plans for Ultrasonic cleaning - Documentation / database update progress - AOB
