Minutes of feedthrough meeting of 21 August, 2000. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Present: GV, Pof, PB, MLenc, AD, TH, RL, MLef *) Milestones: - 27 Vacuum Cables arrived on 14 August. This brings as to a grand total of 300 Vacuum Cables received. 1000 serial number labels (9001 -> 9999) arrived on 16 August, so we can now begin testing the batch of 46 cables that arrived on 1 August. - 17 Bellows assemblies arrived on 14 August. BOA wants 3 additional seal rings and 6 additional cuff rings to complete the order. The 3 seal rings are already in stock here at UVIC, and an order had been placed recently with Southern Cross for 5 additional cuff rings. Southern Cross had not yet started on this order, so there is no problem increasing the order from 5 to some number > 6. The order should be complete in ~ 1 month. *) - Cold tests were started on FT0 last week. The leak checks and 3.5 bar absolute pressure tests on the funnel were completed and all passed. The Cirris continuity tests were also carried out. One line was found to have an anomalously lew resistance of 0.385 Ohms (should be ~ 1.4 -> 1.9 ohms cold). This was not repeatable when warm, and will be remeasured when cooled down again this week. The cross talk measurements were not carried out due to a VI problem, which turned out to be the Labview equivalent of a typo (a wiring error) which was inadvertantly indroduced since FT-1 was measured. The VI has been fixed and tested, and the crosstalk will be measured this week. The thermal tests will also be performed this week. On the morning after the cooldown started (Friday morning, 18 Aug) there was considerable condensation found on the pincarriers of the warm flange. More heat will be required to prevent this in the future. *) Michel and Terry will travel to HCC in LA on Wednesday and Thursday to discuss the pincarrier problems. *) Mark checked on the shipping rates from Victoria to UK for a couple of possible options. To ship one full container (with 25 to 30 feedthroughs) would cost $2300 (plus the cost of the container...). The shipping cost for 32 feedthroughs in plywood crates is $770. It appears that the shipping costs will be negligible. Agenda for next week: (PB to chair) ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ - Milestones - HCC visit - Cold Test report - AOB
