Minutes of feedthrough meeting of 30 October, 2000. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Present: GV, AD, PB, Pof, TH, RL, MLenc, MGF, RKK, MLef *) Milestones: - 45 funnels, 36 cold flanges, and 38 warm flanges were cleaned at TRIUMF. This leaves only 8 bellows assemblies remaining to be cleaned, once they arrive from BOA. - The final electrical tests were performed on ft01. Aside from the know ground short of pin 59 of slot 4b, no problems were found. - SM is working now on the weld sample for TIS, which will be comprised of an upper funnel tube welded to a funnel base. *) Michel will notify David Lissauer (and ask for advice) that UVIC will not be able to complete the endcap C feedthroughs before the currently know date that they are required at CERN. The late completion is due to the late delivery of the pincarriers. *) PB will set up an enclosed space in room 021 in which the dye penetrant tests can be carried out, and will look into the possibility of venting the enclosed space through the building's ventilation system. *) PB will request information from Bob Hackenburg of BNL regarding the specifics of the O ring and RF seal order. *) Bob Evans of FCI recommended that the vacuum cables with upside down centre spacers be returned to FCI for further testing. 96 cables will be returned, along with one cable found with *no* centre spacer and on additional cable with an over tolerance case width. *) Chris Oram talked to Horst Oberlac regarding the LV warm cables. Horst Brettel is looking into obtaining a suitable connector for the backplane, and will contact us once one is found. *) John Lindner will be joining us again for another four (or possibly eight) month session to work on electrical testing at CERN, with the first month or two to be spent at UVIC developing the test equipment. The time of this session is yet to be determined. *) Michel is working on a memo to Aboud outlining responsibilities of installation tasks and costs. *) Michel has notified Chris Oram that, due to Terry's imminent retirement, all ATLAS correspondences sent to Terry should be cc'd to Roy. *) The orbital cutter and the orbital welder proposed to be purchased by BNL apparently won't fit the endcap feedthrough configuration. Roy pointed out that Aboud is aware of this, and that Aboud is probably expecting to purchase a different type of orbital cutter and orbital welder. *) Mark is looking into 4-wire temperature probes, as endorsed by Allain Gonidec and the steering group. BNL apparently still plans to use 3-wire temperature probes. Will it cause problems if UVIC uses 4-wire temperature probes while BNL uses 3-wire? We should aquire both 3- and 4-wire probes along with a temperature controller (as the ones to be used at ATLAS) to conduct our own tests. Agenda for next week: ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ - Milestones - ft02 plans - enclosure in 021 for dye penetrant tests - heater / t-controller update - AOB
