Minutes of feedthrough meeting of 6 November, 2000. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Present: GV, AD, PB, Pof, TH, RL, MLenc, MGF, RKK, MLef *) Milestones - The circuit boards for the flange heater fuse block have arrived. - Chris Oram notified us that the irradiation tests for the thermal conduction pads have passed. - 98 Vacuum cables will be returned to FCI this week for further testing and repair. 96 had upside down centre spacers, one had no centre spacer, and one had a plastic connector with an over tolerance width. - Mark has completed a preliminary drawing for the ambient flange heater. *) The LV vacuum cables should be tested with Phred to check that the wire gauges are all correct. The resolution of the Cirris tester is insufficient for such a check. *) The ten T51 cables that UVIC ordered directly from Axon are to be returned to Axon for electrical testing with the Orsay test setup. *) Horst Brettel has found a suitable backplane connector to which wires from a LV warm cable could be soldered. One scenario is that the ATI connectors to be attached to the warm flange are purchased from Axon with the wires attached, and that someone (not us, perhaps Mainz?) then solders the wires to the backplane connector. It should be verified that the connector that Horst has chosen has the appropriate current carrying capacity. The wire coating must also be chosen carefully; kapton is probably not usable out of vacuum due to its flamability. Perhaps the wire type that Mark has found at CERN for the heater wiring could be used. *) Mark is still looking for an appropriate controller and power supply for us to conduct tests with the ambient flange heaters. Richard suggested that he contact Allain Gonidec for his recommendations. *) In correspondences between Michel and David Lissauer, David recommends that we do not announce to the LARG community that we cannot meet the deadline for the completion of the endcap C feedthroughs. David remains skeptical of the existing cryostat schedule, and how soon it might be ready for the installation of the feedthroughs. *) Michel has sent a memo to Aboud in response to Aboud's draft document entitled "Operations list of signal feed through mounting on the end cap cryostats". Michel's memo seeks clarification on a number of "responsibility" issues. *) FT02 is scheduled to be welded on Tuesday. *) Construction is underway of a tent in room 021 in which the dye penetrant can be carried out. This is necessary to prevent particulates that are produced from the dye penetrant tests from dirtying the room. Agenda for next week: ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ - Milestones - Plans for FT02 - Shipping crate ideas (do we want one or two feedthroughs per crate?) - Temperature controller / power supply update - AOB
