Minutes of feedthrough meeting of 11 December, 2000. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Present: Pof, PB, RL, TH, MGF, RKK *) Milestones - All of the 438 vacuum cables that arrived on 27 November have been visually ispected and tested for intermittent opens. Three will be returned due to over-tolerance case widths. 241 of the vacuum cables were also tested for xtalk, impedance, resistance, and contact resistance. The remaining cables will be tested once their serial number labels arrive. The throughput for testing impedance, resistance, and contact resistance is about twelve cables per hour. The throughput for crosstalk measurments is higher, as long as both crosstalk stations are utilized. - All of the 130 pigtail cables (60 T47 and 70 T48) that arrived 1 December have been visually inspected and checked for continuity. One of the cables had a high resistance on one of the channels, but was ok on repeated subsequent tests. - The LabView 6 upgrade arrived. We will install it only on computers not presently being used for data acquisition until it has been tested, which can be done on the laptop to be purchased for the electrical tests at CERN. *) There was no official word on a revised cryostat schedule during the December LARG week. *) Albin Effernelli will be leaving CERN in the near future, so Pierre Pailler will be the new contact person for the VCR Tee's. *) Aboud suggested that we design our shipping crates such that they can act as jigs to hold the feedthroughs while the lower funnel tube is cut by the orbital cutter. This is probably not feasible; a special jig similar (and simpler) to our assembly jigs would be preferable. Meanwhile, Aboud is in contact with industry to find a suitable (probably custom) orbital cutter that will fit within the given envelope available. *) Aboud would like us to record the temperature and humidity during our electrical tests, as a check against the tests to be done at CERN where the temperature and humidity might be very different. PB and MGF have purchased a spiffy little instrument for T and H measurements. *) MGF provided Aboud with a copy of our QA/QC document to familiarize him with the electrical tests done at UVIC. *) We are reminded that the next draft of the QA/QC document should be bundled into a single document (probably by Bonnie) and placed into EDMS. *) Pierre Imbert would like to see the electrical test results on the pigtails, to compare with those done at Axon. Given the rather crude nature of those tests (continuity check with the Cirris tester) we can probably provide him with more precise measurements of the pigtail resistances by subtracting the known vacuum cable and test harness resistances from the total resistance measured during the final electrical tests. Pof will work on this. *) It was pointed out that the installation of feedthroughs will proceed from top to bottom, meaning that some HEC feedthroughs will be required early on in the process. We should thus not wait until the end to build all the HEC feedthroughs, since we might be forced to partial shipment of feedthroughs (before all those for one endcap are completed) so as not to hold up installation. *) TIS has received the latest weld samples, which are now being cut in preparation for the tests. *) PB will write a new Control Step Document, since the one taken to CERN last week was not what they wanted... *) Horst Brettel is designing the connector adapter for the HEC LV warm cables. Agenda for next week: ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ - Milestones - Progress on the Control Step Document - results of vacuum cable tests - hipot testing of the vacuum cables - shipping crate progress - AOB
