Minutes of feedthrough meeting of 18 December, 2000. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Present: Pof, PB, GV, AD, RL, TH, MLenc, ML, MGF, RKK *) Milestones - Replacement of the pigtail circlips is in progress, and is expected to be completed today. - The final electrial tests on ft02 (cross talk and precision resistance) were completed last week, with no apparent problems. - PB has prepared a draft of the Control Step Document for circulation before being set to TIS. *) Marks prototype shipping crate was tried last week using ft-1. We concluded that the crate should be enlarged to avoid such a tight bending radius of the pigtails. Mark will work on the next iteration. *) The dye-penetrant tests are to be done today on ft00, ft01, and ft02. *) Margret has requested a quote from Axon for 40 LV warm cables, with ATI connectors at one end to connect to the warm flange, but no connectors on the pedestal end. The connectors at the pedestal end, designed by Horst Brettel, will be installed at MPI. *) We were reminded that a folder containing all TIS-related documents still must be prepared. PB and Terry will work on this. *) 239 of the 244 vacuum cables that arrived on 27 November have been paid for. The other five will be returned to FCI for repair; three had over-tolerance case widths and two had inadequate ground shield contact. *) Pof talked to Bob Evans of FCI regarding various vacuum cable issues, particulary the shorting between the two flex circuits seen earlier by UVIC and now also be BNL. Bob said that the cables being built now have a piece of kapton inserted between the flex circuits to phyisically prevent shorting (pof will ask for further details on this design change). Also, the cables are now being HIPOT (high voltage) tested, which should flag any cable that is `nearly' shorted. Once we know what voltage is used for the tests, we will perform similar tests on those cables in our present stock that were not tested at FCI. Bob also noted that the problem we have observed with the plastic case width over tolerance is due to too much solder being used to fasten the sockets to the flex circuit, physically preventing the connector halves to close fully. Finally, Bob said that the vacuum cable order was now `wrapping up', suggesting that the full order may be delivered in the `not too distant' future. *) Michel responed to Pierre and Allain's updated document on integration costs and responsibilities, pointing out that the ~ CHF30k cost of electical tests to be conducted at CERN should also be included, and also clarifying that the cost of the orbital cutter covered by UVIC is up to CHF50k. He also reminded them of our offer to connect the warm cables. *) Michel reported that, to date, we have paid Orsay for a total of 629 pigtail cables. We have received a total of 759 pigtail cables, 130 of which (from the most recent shipment) have not been billed yet. The total number we ultimately expect from Orsay is 1635. For those 90 pigtails ordered by us directly from Axon, we have received 60. Ten T51 and 20 LV pigtails have yet to be received. *) Richard brought to our attention that Tektronix now makes digital scopes in a much smaller package that may be suitable for the electrial tests to be done at CERN. The price apparently also are similarly scaled down from those we presently have in the lab. Pof will do some shopping. Agenda for next week: ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ - Milestones - TIS weld sample saga - New warm body to be hired - shipping crate progress - AOB
