Minutes of feedthrough meeting of 15 January, 2001. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Present: Pof, PB, GV, AD, TH, MLenc, ML, RKK, MGF *) PB, RL (and possibly MGF) will be attending the February LARG week. During LARG week, PB will: - meet with Alberto Desirelli to (hopefully) resolve the TIS issues, - meet with Serge Chekulaev who will act as the receiver for our feedthroughs as they are shipped to CERN and may also provide other assistance, - check out our space in buiding 180 (contact Patrick Fassnecht by email first), - talk with Allain Gonidec about the leak checker that will be provided for us, - talk with Aboud about the RF seals and O-rings, - get himself set up with a radiation badge. Should be a pretty full week... *) Mark reported that the ambient flange heaters could be constructed by the UVIC electronics shop once the temperature probes have arrived (should be here soon) and a connector issue is resolved with BNL. *) Richard informed us that he will be at CERN in March and will be available to contact people as required. *) The folder of all TIS related issues still must be put together. Bonnie could probably help work on this. *) Bonnie is working on putting the QA/QC document(s) into one single MS Word document. This will make maintenance and revisions of the document much simpler and will also facilitate its export into PDF format so that it can be web readable. *) PB will send the Control Step Document to Alberto Desirelli so that Alberto has a chance to read it before Paul arrives for LARG week. *) An ad has been placed for an lab assistant in the ATLAS lab, to be used for traveller sheet maintenance, data base entries, and general assembly assistance. *) Greg and Aaron will be at TRIUMF on thursday to clean the last eight bellows assemblies. This will be the last of the components which require ultrasonic cleaning. They will also stop by EBCO to pick up our remaing unused SS material. *) Margret received a quote for `our end' of the LV warm cables (the bundle of 22 gauge wires attached to an ATI connector; MPI will provide and assemble the other connector). The quote came in at US$480 per unit, with 40 units to be purchased. RKK will talk with Chris regarding which money should be used to pay for these cables, since it falls outside of the feedthrough project envelope. *) Time permitting, Mark will try to work on the feedthrough shipping crates this week. *) PB has a purchase requisition for the O-rings and RF seals. PB has learned that BNL has changed the size of the RF seals that they will order; we will stick the the originally planned size. *) PB showed drawings for the pumping manifold to be used for the leak checks at CERN, with the ability to pump down three feedthroughs simultaneously overnight using a scroll pump in preparation for leak checking the following morning. We plan to leak check the bellows volume only, not the funnel volume. *) It was agreed that we will ship the electrical and vacuum test equipment to CERN along with a few (at least three) feedthroughs so that the test equipment can be checked out before the bulk of the feedthroughs arrive at CERN. *) Before purchasing, pof will borrow a 100 MHz TDS200 series scope from the undergraduate lab to check that it will work for our cross talk measurements. *) Pof will check our stock of pigtail jumpers, since we may not have enough of both types (25 and 50 Ohm) to fully equip all types of feedthroughs using micro-D connectors (standard, special, and fcal). He will also investigate the consequences of an impedance mismatch (eg, using a 25 Ohm jumper between two 50 Ohm pigtails). Agenda for next week: ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ - Milestones - - AOB
