Minutes of feedthrough meeting of 19 February, 2001. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Present: PB, Pof, GV, AD, FH, MLenc, MGF, RKK *) Milestones - During the February LARG week, Paul B. and Roy were given the go ahead for feedthrough welding by Alberto Desirelli et. al. of TIS; they now understand and are satisfied with all welds to be done on the UVIC feedthroughs, although no written document to that effect will be provided to us. *) Other news from LARG week provided by Paul B: - The official date for the endcap C cryostat is now August 2001, however rumours are that Christmas 2001 might be more realistic. There was no mention of the schedule for endcap A. - Pierre Imbert is now the person responsible (and our new contact) for the cabling from the feedthroughs to slow controls. BNL, however, remain the ones to decide on the connector types for the heater power and temperature probes. PB reported that the bundles of wires for the heater power and the temperature probes are to exit the pedestal through a hole, rather than using some sort of bulkhead mounted feedthrough. It is unclear (at least to me...) how such an arrangment could remain RF tight. In a discussion with Pierre Imbert, PB suggested that the power and instrumentation wire bundles should be kept separate. - PB learned from Pierre Pailler that CERN will provide both the leak checker and also a turbo pump (backed by a rotary vane roughing pump) for our leak tests at CERN. - B180 now has a `feedthroughs' room, complete with walls, and floor space measuring approximately 8 meters by 4 meters. This room will presumably be used by both the endcap and barrel feedthrough groups. There appears to be space just outside of the feedthroughs room (but still inside B180) for feedthrough storage. - Pierre Pailler would like the feedthrough funnels to be leak checked at CERN along with the bellows. PB will incorporate this change into his leak test manifold to be used at CERN. *) Mark L. will check with BNL and slow controls to determine whether or not the 75 Ohm resistors are compatable with the power supply characteristics before we proceed with the full resistor order. *) Paul B., Mark, Pof, will arrange for a visit to BNL at the earliest convenient time for a site tour and to discuss a number of outstanding issues, such as pincarrier delivery, ambient flange heaters, and ideas for shipping crates. *) Pof received an email from Bob Evans at FCI stating that all future FCI correspondence should be directed to Bonnie Wheeler at FCI Connectors In., 50-10 Grumbacher Rd., York, PA 17402, fax 717-767-8004. Bob will not be involved in the project anymore, however he promised to still try to get me a `legible' copy of the Hi-pot test report from MFG. Agenda for next week: ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ - Milestones - report from GV on VI for flange heater - plans for BNL visit - ski report from the Rockies... - AOB
