Minutes of feedthrough meeting of 26 February, 2001. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Present: PB, Pof, GV, AD, FH, MLenc, MGF, RKK *) Milestones - Greg has finished a number of VI's for use in the ATLAS lab. All VI's display graphically on the computer and all data is saved to files. The Granville Phillips and Robinson Halpern VI's cannot be fully tested until the NI DAQ Card arrives (back ordered and expected by end of March). The new (or revised) VI's include: Pin Cooler VI: - New VI allows heater control and shut off. - Allows comunnication with Delta Air Products. - VI now displays 4 therocouples and heater power. Vacuum station VI: - Now more efficient. - New display added to show cool down rate. Omega VI: - Allows comunication with Omega temerature control. - Used to monitor temperature and heater power of the feedthrough heater plates. Granville Phillips VI - Used to monitor the pressure in both the vacuum station and the pin carrier cooler. Robinson Halpern VI - Used to monitor the pressure in the feedthrough on the cold box side. - The calibration vacuum cables have been re-selected, this time with an impedance cut (average impedance of each stripline > 32.5 Ohms) so that they better match the impedance of the 50 Ohm pigtails they are connected to. Enough for both endcaps plus spares (and spare spares) have been set aside. - 195 pigtails arrived from Orsay on Wednesday 28 Feb - 94 T47's, 90 T48's, and 11 T49's. The running total of pigtails ordered from Orsay now stands at: ( have / expect ) serial numbers ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ( 472 / 789 ) T47 5201 - 5672 ( 374 / 630 ) T48 5990 - 6363 *** ( 43 / 75 ) T49 6620 - 6662 ( 16 / 39 ) T50 6695 - 6710 ( 16 / 39 ) T51 6734 - 6749 ( 33 / 63 ) T52 6773 - 6805 ( 954 /1635 ) total *** pigtails 6048 and 6194 have been returned to axon for repair *) Tom Muller sent an email to Paul B. on Tue, 27 Feb indicating that Glasseal is now getting to over 10 pincarriers per week and striving to get to 20 per week, and that he "plan(s) on having some sets sent to Uvic in about 1 week or so if they keep gaining ground and we (BNL) are ahead enough to afford having carriers not come to us (BNL) for awhile". Michel sent an email response to Tom to remind him that we are now also behind schedule and urging that some pincarriers be sent to UVIC even if it means BNL sharing the slow down. This resulted in an email from Tom on Friday 2 March that Glasseal will send us two 8-row and four 7-row pincarriers, enough to get back into production. *) Pof has obtained quotes for procuring the electrical test equipment that we still need to purchase for tests at CERN. The major item remaining are: - Tektronix TDS 3052 scope with GPIB $9900.00 (2 chan 500 MHz digital scope) - Keithly 580 / 5802 micro-Ohmmeter $4356.00 - laptop PC ~$2000.00 - NI GPIB and IO interfaces $2210.00 - miscellaneous cables, etc $500.00 ^^^^^^^^^ - TOTAL $19000.00 In addition, we will require a NIM bin for the BNC pulse generator (we will use one of the two pulse generators that we already own). We could purchase a BNC PortaNIM power supply for $4199.00, or opt to rent a NIM bin from the CERN pool at a charge of 6.7% of purchase cost per year. *) PB, Mark, and Pof will fly to BNL on 6 March, returning on 9 March. The digital camera will be taken along with lots of empty floppy disks. Anyone who has any particular topics they would like addressed during the visit should let PB, Mark, or Pof know this week. Agenda for next week: ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ - Milestones - plans for BNL visit - plans for production (re)startup - AOB
