Minutes of feedthrough meeting of 02 April, 2001. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Present: PB, Pof, AD, FH, MGF, ML, RKK *) Milestones - Pincarriers for ft03 were welded last Tuesday; cabling on ft03 was also started last week. - The NI DAQ card has been set up and is working. - The Keithley micro-Ohm meter for CERN tests has arrived. - Plastic pincarriers for the ambient side have been finished. - A camera (w/o lens) has been ordered for the task of pincarrier inspections. The lens and TV monitor remain to be ordered. *) Two pincarrier pins were bent while cabling ft03, one on the ambient flange and the other on the funnel side of the cold flange. While the repair of the pin on the ambient flange was not difficult, requiring the removal of only one vacuum cable, the repair of the cold flange pin was rather involved since all vacuum cables had to be removed to access the pigtails. Since this sort of inefficiency cannot be tolerated, new procudures will be introduced where the pigtail continuity will be tested as each pair of pigtails is plugged in. Similiarly, the vacuum cables will also be tested as each pair of vacuum cables is plugged in. This necessitates a minor modification of the assembly jig (the scissor jack needs to be reversed) and also the installation of the pigtail jumpers as each pair of pigtails is installed. Note that it is expected that the pigtails jumpers will remain installed until at least the completion of the cold electrical tests, which will require the purchase of additional sets of pigtail jumpers. Pof will look into the use of the pigtail jumpers presently used by BNL; BNL has offered to send us one for testing. *) AD is working on spacers for fuse box lids of the ambient flange heater plates. *) Laurent Serin sent an email to pof that he was told by Pierre Imbert "the number of plugins for micro-D connectors which is guaranteed, if they are correctly used, is more than one hundred plugins". I suspect that BNL's problems might be due to the fact that they don't use the jackscrews to plug in the micro-D's. *) The heater plates still require milling for the fuse block. PB and Pof should confirm on which side of the heater the fuse block belongs, since the prototype appears to be backwards. *) There was some difficulty encountered while welding the pincarriers last week, which might be due to residual gold on the weld lip (although this was checked before and none was found). It has been proposed that, as a standard procedure, the weld lips of all pincarriers be cleaned with scotch bright after the cold cycles, but before the HiPot tests. *) Pof contacted Tom Muller by phone on 4 April. Tom said that HCC is now up to 30 pincarrier bodies per week, and expects Glasseal to be putting out 30 finished pincarriers per week by sometime next week. Tom also mentioned that there is presently one set of pincarriers being shipped to UVIC from Glasseal. Tom also agreed that the next shipment to UVIC will be two full sets. *) The QA/QC document must be complted ASAP to be placed on EDMS. PB, AD, and GV will proof read the present draft and make necessary modifications. *) The tests for the heater plate resistors should be terminated now, and a summary report prepared by PB for the upcoming LARG week. *) PB has found through conversations with Tom Goldbach and the welder (Greg) of SM that SM is rather low on business, and that the second qualified welder (Loyd) has been laid off. As a precautionary step, should SM go out of business, PB will check to see what other welding shops in Victoria hold a U-stamp, for the welding pressure vessels. Steps should also be taken to ensure that SM can provide a second qualified welder since it is too risky to rely on one qualified welder only. *) Mark's services have been taken by TRIUMF for now, so the remaing shipping crate issues and heater plate issues will be covered by others. The shipping crates will be built by Dave Smith. The only remaining issues on the heater plates relate to the connects to be used for the power and sensor cords. Don Makoviecki at BNL is the contact for the connectors. *) The upcoming LARG week is 23 - 27 April. Michel, Richard, and Margret will be attending, and should be provided with all material to be presented at the meetings. Agenda for next week: ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ - Milestones - Heater plate resistor test summary - Progress on ft03 - QA/QC document - Video camera setup - AOB
