Minutes of feedthrough meeting of 17 April, 2001. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Present: PB, Pof, AD, GV, FH, ML, RKK, MGF *) Milestones - four 8-row pincarriers arrived 11 April, four 7-row pincarriers arrived today (17 April). Shipping time for each of these was eight days. - ft03 was welded shut and cold-tested last week; no problems found. *) The construction of the metal brackets for the shipping crates needs to be farmed out. PB and AD will check if Dave Smith can do the job. *) Pof is awaiting instructions from Kathy Pommes on how to place our QA/QC document on EDMS. Following the example set by the `Hadronic End Cap General' documents, our document would be placed under Atlas Detector -> LArg Calorimeter -> End Cap -> Feedthroughs -> Quality Control The `Quality Control' folder does not exist (nor can it be created by mere mortals) so further input from Kathy has been requested. If no reply is received soon, we'll just put the document in Atlas Detector -> LArg Calorimeter -> End Cap -> Feedthroughs *) Another eight pincarriers (four of each type) were shipped to us by Glasseal on April 19th. Peter Tardiff of Glasseal provided us with the invoice and tracking numbers, which have been passed on to King Bothers (our customs brokers) with the hopes that the advance notice might expedite their trip through the border. *) Pof and PB will provide Margret with slides to be presented at next week's LARG week. These will include an update on the parts inventory (especially pincarriers...), number of feedthroughs built, and a summary of the ambient flange heater resistor tests. *) Pof did some cross talk tests using the pigtail jumper on loan to us from BNL. Unfortunately, the crosstalk from these jumpers is much higher (and not reproducibly in a predictable way) presumably due to the unshielded wires. This makes them unsuitable for our crosstalk tests, since the enhanced crosstalk signal from a broken ground trace is not reliably separable from the crosstalk of the jumper itself. The pigtail jumper has been returned to BNL. *) Margret will check with Pierre Imbert while at CERN if ORSAY can provide us with any AXON pigtail jumpers (fat chance...). Unless ORSAY can provide us with AXON pigtail jumpers in the near future, we will place an order for enough additional AXON pigtail jumpers that we have two full sets (15 + 15) plus a sufficient number of spares (note that we presently have twelve 25 Ohm + twelve 50 Ohm pigtail jumpers). If the lead time for obtaining the additional AXON pigtail jumpers is too long, we will order about ten BNL-type pigtail jumpers which could be used for conducting CIRRIS tests while the feedthrough is in the assembly jig; those BNL-type pigtail jumpers would then be replaced with AXON pigtail jumpers before the feedthrough is installed in the cold station. The one or two additional 1.2 meter (or perhaps longer?) test leads also need to be ordered from AXON. Agenda for next week: ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ - Milestones - Progress on ft03 - Plans for ft04 - AOB
