Minutes of feedthrough meeting of 14 May, 2001. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Present: PB, Pof, GV, FH, ML, RKK, MGF, ASD, Mlenc, NK *) Milestones - ft04 is finished and has been placed in its coffin. - ft05 has been welded shut and will be dye penetrant tested today, and cold tested later this week. *) One pigtail was flagged with a high resistance short (~250 MOhm, tested at 10 Volts with the electrical shop's MegaOhmmeter) while cabling ft05 (resistance between pigtail channels is typically > 100 GOhms) and hence replaced with another pigtail. Pof has contacted Laurent Serin and Christophe De La Taille, who feel that the cable will still be ok to use. *) After discussing the matter of ambient flange power supplies among Terry, PB, Mark, and pof, a note was sent to Louis Fayard recommending that the power supplies be at least 40 to 50 Watts (the heat leakage from a Standard feedthrough was measured last year to be approximately 17 Watts), and also pointed out that the heat leakage from a HEC feedthrough will be 7.3 Watts greater. There should also be on hand one or more power supplies with sufficient capacity to cope with the heat loss from a catastrophic loss of vacumm, ~75 Watts leak for 1 bar in the bellows, and ~150 Watts leak for 1.5 bar in the bellows. Further measurements will be done on heat leakage and temperature regulation once the instrumentation is ready and opportunity permits. Mark will also prepare a drawing of the heater in postscript format to send to Louis. *) 24 pincarreris are expected to arrive this week (in fact, they arrived on Tuesday 15 May). Once the first 12 pincarriers have been cold cycled and leak checked, we will begin our trial run of completing three Standard feedthroughs in one month. A further 16 pincarriers will be requested to arrive in time to carry on with building one HEC and one Special feedthrough after the three Standards are done. *) We have no contract with Specific Mechanical regarding the hourly cost of welding or the travel cost (which should include parking). Paul B. will contact Tom Goldbach of SM and George Stenning of UVIC Purchasing Services to rectify this situation. *) There was a short discussion of the motorized elevator platform idea proposed by Didier Steyaert to provide feedthrough access for the electrical tests after installation onto the cryostat. This matter will be further discussed in more detail at CERN. Agenda for next week: ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ - Milestones - Progress on ft05 - Further heater measurements - Plans for ft06, ft07, ft08 and beyond. - AOB
