Minutes of feedthrough meeting of 28 May, 2001. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Present: PB, Pof, GV, AD, ASD, FH, ML, RKK, MGF *) Milestones - The 100 pigtails that arrived 17 May have been processed and tested; all ok. - Final electrical tests for ft05 are done; all ok. - ft06 has been cabled; welding and dye penetrant testing is scheduled for Tuesday 29 May. - ft07 pigtails have been installed; further cabling awaiting completion of the next warm flange (expected Tuesday 29 May). - Cold cycles and leak checks have been completed for the final 12 of the 24 pincarriers that arrived 15 May; welding into flanges is scheduled for Tuesday 29 May. *) Pof will keep Tom Muller informed of progress with the 24 pincarriers that arrived on 17 May, and will negotiate delivery of the next 16 pincarriers (for 1 HEC and 1 Special Feedthrough) so that we are not idled between batches. *) Chris Oram will be here on Tuesday 29 May for a site visit and review of our procedures. *) Pof has contacted Bonnie Wheeler of FCI regarding the 236 vacuum cables still to be delivered, but no reply has been received yet (she is possibly on vacation). Pof will contact the local FCI rep (Urs Kissling of Astec Components Ltd in Vancouver) who has provided assistance in the past in breaking through the communication barriers with FCI. On Friday 1 June, contact was made (with the help of Urs) with Francisco Montes of the FCI plant in Cypress, California. Once he was able to peruse all supporting documents supplied by us, he confirmed that FCI now agrees with our numbers - 236 cables still to be delivered, of which 100 have already been paid for. An email has been sent to Urs Kissling thanking him for his assistance. For the record, Urs Kissling, Francisco Montes and Bonnie Wheeler can be reached at these numbers and emails: Urs Kissling phone 604 532 3881 email ukissling@astec.ca Francisco Montes phone 562 356 2513 email fmontes@fciconnect.com Bonnie Wheeler phone 800 237 2374 email BWheeler@fciconnect.com *) Pof has contacted Jan Soukup at Alberta regarding the pedestal mockup. The acrylic mockup of the HEC pedestal has been finished for some while in their shop, except for some missing holes in the top surfaces interfacing with the crate, and a lack of current drawings from BNL to show where these holes should be. These holes, however, are probably unnecessary for the mockup, and so it may be shipped without. *) Pof will order the PC and GPIB/IO interfaces for the CERN electrical tests soon. *) Pof contacted Bob Hackenburg at BNL regarding BNL's method of shipping their feedthroughs to CERN. BNL has not shipped any yet (and no anticipated method was specified), although they expect to ship some in a few weeks and will keep us posted. BNL will also equip their crates with accelerometers. *) We should aim at having at least three feedthroughs at CERN by September. *) John Lindner is expected to be starting his work term with us in September (based partly at CERN) and may be available for some work as early as ~17 August. *) There was some discussion about the impact shields to be built and placed over the ambient flanges after the feedthroughs are welded in place. Specifically, should the impact shields attach to the bolt ring holes (in which case they must be removed when the pedestal is installed since the pedestal uses the same holes) or should they attach to the 12 mm holes used for manipulating the feedthrough during installation (in which case they must be removed before installation of the heater plates since the 12 mm holes are covered by the heater plates)? This matter should be discussed with Aboud and others at CERN (or possibly meet with Aboud in Paris or at UVIC to discuss this and other matters) after we have produced a time ordered list of all operations which might effect the choice. *) Laurent Serin has informed me that Axon will provide us with ~30 spare micro-D jackscrews. In addition, and order has been placed with Glenair for 25 pair of micro-D jackscrews and 25 pair of micro-D jackscrew posts. Agenda for next week: ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ - Milestones - Progress on ft06, ft07, ft08 - Plans for the week - AOB
