Minutes of feedthrough meeting of 8 August, 2001. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Present: Pof, GV, AD, FH *) Milestones - ft12 (Special) is being final tested this week, ft13 (HEC) will be cold tested this week, cabling of ft14 (Special) will start this week. - Greg has milled 36 heater plates for the fuse blocks, and a heater plate wiring jig has been made so that the folks in the electronics shop can wire up the heaters for us. - The Data Acquisition laptop has arrived. *) Terry paid a visit to the feedthrough lab this week, and discussed with Greg and Pof possible options for the heater shunt for the HEC LV warm cables. The prototype heater shunt is probably too bulky to fit in the limited space of the pedestal. Greg will proceed with another design which will take much less space. *) No pincarriers have arrived yet... Tom Muller has told me that Glasseal lost a week of production due to an up-grade in the plating area, and that the next shipment to Victoria should be "early next week at the latest". I sent a note in reply that the lost time was "unfortunate" as we will loose about three weeks of production, and restated my case that Victoria should have some reasonable buffer of pincarriers to see us through such unexpected delays. In the mean time, there *are* fortunately plenty of other jobs that will keep our crew more than busy during August. *) Dave Smith is building two more HEC shipping crates. *) BNL has shipped four ft's to CERN, by air from NY to Geneva direct. Tom Muller, Bob Hackenburg, and Dave Pate will be at CERN on Aug 20 to set up the reception procedures. *) A major cleanup of the TRIUMF lab (room 021) and also the TRIUMF machine shop is in (painful...) progress. While on the subject of cleanup, please beware that no unlicensed software (aside from freeware) should be on any of our computers. If you are aware of any, then uninstall it! *) Pof will consult with Andy Mavretic of Occupational Health and Safety about procedures available for cleaning the pincarriers in an acetone bath. The Physics Dept. has a fume hood on the roof which may be available for use. *) John Lindner will start work with us on Tuesday 21 August. Agenda for next week: ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ - Milestones - TRIUMF lab cleanup progress - Heater progress - ft shipping plans - Plans for the week - AOB
