Minutes of feedthrough meeting of 13 August, 2001. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Present: Pof, PB, GV, FH *) Milestones - Final tests on ft12 have been done. - ft13 was cold tested. 2 coaxe lines on one of the pigtails have suffered some damage during one of the operations (uncertain which, but probably during removal from the assembly jig) with a small (~2 mm) piece of kapton insulation being stripped down to the ground shield. Pof has contacted Pierre Imbert for repair suggestions, but no reply yet. The operation of removing the feedthrough from the assembly jig will be revised so that further damage is less likely. - ft14 (our third Special) will be welded today (Monday 13 Aug). - All heater plates have now been milled for the fuse blocks. The heater plates must still be cleaned and burrs removed from the tapped holes; dishwasing detergent should suffice for the cleaning operation. - The wiring jig for the heater plates has been completed. This is to be turned over to the electronics shop for mass production after we've tested it ourselves. - The Machine shop is now in pretty good shape, but the TRIUMF lab (021) still requires lots of work to sort through piles of decades old debris. Aaron is disposing all unused chemicals, and Pof and Alisa are looking into proper storage cabinets for the TMP and other flammables. - Jan and Greg have worked out the 'list box' problem in the access data base for the final summary reports; only a few minor things need to be done to complete the final reports. - The cross talk and precision resistance routines have been installed and compiled on the DA laptop, and tested with existing data. The GPIB and IO cards have been installed, and we have been able to communicate between the laptop and the new Tek scope as well as the new Keithley micro Ohmmeter. John Lindner will have to work out the problems of incorporating the new scope and Ohmmeter VI's and IO interface into the existing CrossTalk and Phred VI's. *) The pincarriers will be cleaned in acetone and alcohol in the physics fume hood on the roof. We now have a key to access that room. *) Greg is still working on the design for the heater plate copper shunts for the HEC LV warm cables. *) Pof had a couple of phone conversations with Tom Muller this week. Glasseal has lost production time due to some work in the plating area, and also because they were building only 7-row pincarriers (no 8-row) while Pete Tardiff was away. Glasseal is expected to ship 24 more pincarriers to UVIC by the end of this week (they were shipped out on Friday 17 Aug). The following batch of 24 will go to BNL, then the next 24 to UVIC again. Several of the BNL crew (Tom, Bob, David, some techs) will be at CERN next week to check out the reception of the first four feedthroughs that they shipped. Tom and Bob will stay only for the week, but will return for a longer stay 21 September, hopefully to begin installation. *) A few more tasks require completion before we can ship the first four feedthroughs to CERN: - Purchase 15g and 25g shockwatch and labels -> AD - Complete the database 'final summary report' -> GV - Final design and construction of exterior shipping crate -> PB - give name of CERN contact persons for reception and customs papers to Simon of King Brothers -> pof (done) Agenda for next week: ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ - Milestones - TRIUMF lab cleanup progress - Heater plate wiring - Plans for the week - AOB
