Minutes of feedthrough meeting of 17 September, 2001. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Present: Pof, GV, AD, FH, PB, JL, RKK, CJO *) Milestones - ft15 (our last HEC for ECC) is nearly cabled and should be welded sometime this week. - ft01 (after its repair and retesting) and ft14 (our 3rd Special) are ready to be crated. - The dye-pentrate shed (christened room number 021b...) has been plumbed into the building's ventilation system today (by UVIC Facilities Management) and is now ready for use. - Construction of the second 64-pin straightener, for use at CERN, has been finished by Greg. - The pincarrier cooler leak has been repaired and the cooler is now back in business. - The electrical test cart to hold the CERN reception and post-weld electrical test equipment is finished. *) Horst Oberlac, the LARG convener, will be visiting UVIC next Monday and Tuesday 24,25 September. He will attend the regular Monday morning ft meeting, followed at 11:00 by a more specific meeting to discuss such issues as ft construction status, schedule, and difficulties. The overall Cryostat and Cryogenics schedules will also be discussed, as well as a projected ASSO review. Horst will tour the ft shop and related labs at 13:30 on Monday. *) The material for the outer shipping crate to hold the four ft coffins has been cut and is ready for assembly. We will not ship the four feedthroughs until after Horst's visit on Monday. *) The 'suspect' pincarrier that showed a leak which has subsequently gone away will be cold cycled five more times (in addition to the usual three), with leak checks after each cycle. If all leak checks pass, then the pincarrier will be considered passed, but should be used in a warm flange only. This recipe should be followed for all future suspect pincarriers. *) PB, JL, and Pof will depart for CERN on 5 October. PB will return on 19 October, Pof will return on 2 November, and JL will depart CERN (for the UK) on 14 December, and return to Canada on 21 December. AD and GV will spend three weeks each at CERN following Pof's return. *) The leak-check manifold to be used at CERN should be fully checked out by the end of this week, ready to be shipped to CERN before PB, JL, and Pof depart for CERN. *) There remain problems running the electrical test VI's on the Toshiba laptop to be used at CERN, with the computer crashing (to the blue screen of death) regularly while attempting to run the VI's. The problem has been isolated to the either the GPIB card (the I/O card seems to be ok) or the Toshiba laptop. John will try running the VI's on Jan's IBM laptop as a further test. Agenda for next week: ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ - Milestones - status of CERN vacuum test setup - status of CERN electrical test setup - shipping plans for ft's and test setups - ambient flange heater construction - Plans for the week - AOB
