Minutes of feedthrough meeting of 13 November, 2001. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Present: Pof, GV, FH, PB, ML, ASD *) Milestones - 24 pincarriers arrived on 6 November (and 24 more pincarriers on 16 November). Other recent deliveries have been: 24 pc's 29 October 27 pc's 22 October 24 pc's 12 October 3 pc's 26 September 24 pc's 27 August We have received a total of 270 pincarriers so far. That's up from 147 as of the end of September. - ft19 was welded and passed the dye-penetrate test, then cold tested (and passed). - Three flanges (two warm and one cold) were welded. - ft20 has has been cabled and will be welded Wednesday 14 November. - A production status page has been added to the feedthrough web pages, including links to some of the cross talk and resistance data summaries. More features will be added in the near future. - A care package containing various odds and ends (nuts, bolts, dust pan, brush, mop, small top shelf for the electronics test cart, reading material,...) was sent to CERN. - Week of 5 November report from CERN: 5 Nov: evacuated ft05 and ft06 funnels. 6 Nov: leak checked ft05 and ft06 funnels; cross talk tests for ft05 and ft06; evacuated ft04 and ft07 funnels. 7 Nov: leak checked ft04 and ft07 funnels; cross talk tests for ft04 and ft07; evacuated ft05 and ft06 bellows; evacuated ft10 and ft14 funnels. 8 Nov: leak checked ft10 and ft14 funnels; cross talk tests for ft14 and ft10; leak checked ft05 and ft06 bellows; analysed ft04, ft05, ft06, and ft07 cross talk test data. 11 Nov: evacuated ft04 and ft07 bellows; evacuated ft08 and ft12 funnels. *) One of the pigtail test leads in use at CERN has gone kaput (one channel does not transmit pulses). A replacement was included with the electrical test equipment sent to CERN, but two more replacement test leads will also be sent with the next care package. Several of the micro-D jackscrews have also been failing with stripped sockets at CERN. More replacements of those will also be sent. *) Another damaged pigtail (stripped kapton) was found on ft10 at CERN, very close to the micro-D connector. ft19 (still at UVIC) has also been damaged, with at least two coaxe lines stripped near the end of the funnel. We need to modify our procedures so that the cables are better protected. We will look into using a full poly sleave protecting the entire length of the pigtail bundle. Pierre Imbert and Patrick Cornebise are presently at CERN and were to meet with Aaron on Friday 16 November to assess the damage and attempt a repair on the two damaged feedthroughs now at CERN. Unfortunately, the forgot a tool required for the repairs, so the repairs have been postponed until Wednesday 28 November. *) The issue of feedthrough ownership transfer to CERN is presently being negotiated between Michel and Pierre. It is expected to be finalized during the December LARG week. *) We need to decide what parts of the traveler-sheet notebooks should be scanned and placed on EDMS. The full traveler-sheet notebooks are about 100 pages per feedthrough. One proposal is to scan only the summary pages, which include the serial numbers of all components. *) Pof will investigate during the December LARG week the integration of our feedthrough database into the the ATLAS database. *) Work will continue on updating the QA/QC document, including the reception test procedures and appendices on the test equipment. We will aim at placing it on EDMS before Christmas. *) Michel is working on a report (more or less an update of the feedthrough TDR) for Horst Oberlac, including basic information such as how many of each type of feedthrough are made, what are the feedthrough components, etc. *) Another care package will be prepared for CERN: - more micro-D jackscrews - another micro-D jackscrew ball driver or allen driver - magnifying glass - two more (prototype) pigtail test leads - a leaky pincarrier for Pierre Agenda for next week ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ - Milestones - plans for the December LARG week - pigtail protection during testing and installation - plans for the week - AOB
