Minutes of feedthrough meeting of 17 December, 2001. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Present: Pof, AD, FH, PB, ML, RKK, MGF, ASD, GV *) Milestones - 12 pincarriers arrived on Dec 10, 12 pincarriers arrived on Dec 11, 48 pincarriers arrived on Dec 14 - 48 more pincarriers shipped on 14 December. - ft22 (a Standard) passed it's cold tests, and the final electrical tests are also done. *) One of the pigtails on ft22 has been damaged, with stripped kapton near the micro-D connector. More work will be done to find a way of preventing further damage. It is likely that one source of damage is from individual coaxe lines catching on various parts of the micro-D connectors. The cable ties around the pigtails are also a source of trouble. We also need to develop methods of protecting the cables during installation into the cryostat. These should be worked out well before installation begins sometime in the new year. *) GV and JL spent some time last week working with Aboud on installation of the mockup feedthrough. Greg took pictures of each step of the installation procedure; Michel will place those pictures on the web. *) 20 pincarriers are to be welded into five flanges on Wednesday 19 Dec, along with ft24 if it is ready. *) ft13, the feedthrough at CERN that has been found to leak at the seal ring / bellows weld will be re tested when our crew returns to CERN in the new year. If the leak persists (as is likely) we will contact Allain Gonidec to arrange for the repair to be done at CERN. *) The ASSO which was to have been held in February 2002 will probably be moved to coincide with the April 2002 LARG week (15 - 19 April). *) The computer HEPCAD in the ATLAS lab is to be replaced ASAP. *) PB has found and organized all relevant welding plans and material certifications, with the exception of the material certs for the pincarrier material. There are three batches of pincarrier material that we have in our feedthroughs, one from CERN and two from Sandmeyer. BNL handled the procurement of all three of these batches. Michel will contact David Lissauer for details on this purchase. If BNL does not have the certs for the CERN steel, we will ask Allain Gonidec if he might have the information. *) Pof and Margret will produce a short note on the relevant properties of the vacuum cables, including a summary of the TDR studies and calculations and also a brief history of the development of the vacuum cable design. *) Roy has put the feedthrough drawings on CDD. Michel will check with Mark to see if any of those drawings have been updated; if so, the updated drawings will also be put on CDD. *) Work on building feedthroughs should wind down before the end of the week so that the lab and all work in progress can be tidied up before the Christmas break. Agenda for next week (Wednesday, 2 January 2002) ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ - Milestones - status of EDMS and CDD documentation - progress on pigtail protection during testing & installation - plans for 4 - 8 Feb LARG week - plans for the week - AOB
