Minutes of feedthrough meeting of 4 February, 2002. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Present: Pof, FH, PB, RKK, WW *) Milestones - Wendy Wiggins has started as a new member of the group. She will be initiated testing the recently arrived batch of 202 pigtails... - ft24 final electrical tests were done. - ft25 was welded shut again after being opened to replace the defective vacuum cables; three cold and one warm flange were also welded. ft25 was subsequently cold tested - no problems this time. - ft26 was cold tested and passed. *) Nine slots were continuously monitored for "opposite channel" shorts during the cool down for the cold tests of ft25 and ft26 - no shorts were observed. Neil has now completed the full set of monitoring apparatus, so all slots will be monitored during cool down from now on. *) One of the pigtail cables that arrived on 31 January was about 1.5 cm short (nominal length is 90 cm). Pof has sent a note to Laurent Serin to check if there is sufficient slack built in to the design of these cables to accommodate such a short cable. *) The problems reported last week with the web server were due to a zombie from Germany attempting to hack hepserv (such a phrase would have raised eyebrows 10 years ago...). Jan has taken appropriate actions, and the web server is back up and running. The "production status" web pages have been expanded to include cross talk data from the cold tests, and also resistance, impedance, and cross talk data for all vacuum cables. This represents pretty much all the relevant electrical test data avaialble. *) 24 pincarriers (12 of each type) arrived on Tuesday 5 February. There remain 25 7-row and 27 8-row pincarriers to be delivered. *) ft27 and ft28 (both standard) are to be built this week. *) Bob Hackenburg sent the following email to me today (Friday 8 Feb): I shipped to you: - 2 Warm Cables -- tested good. - 100 RJ11 connectors, Part no. 154-7623-4 (from Mouser, www.mouser.com) - 32 AMP 1-480426-0 Connector shells (for the 4-pin heater connection) - 150 AMP 60618-5 Connector pins - 1 Crimp die for the RJ11s, for use with 624-2100 Sargent super-crimp (from Mouser) We are having the RJ11s put on our RTDs by an outside firm; we couldn't achieve reliable connections ourselves. We are also in the process of ordering some kapton-insulated wire for the heater connections. We have received only 22 replacement vacuum cables, and are still waiting for the other 120 or so. *) Roy reported from CERN on Friday 8 February: This message is a long time after the event, but your talk was well received. It didn't raise any questions because it was so full of "good news" ... everything on schedule etc. etc. etc. P. Imbert was not in the audience to hear of your concerns about getting the damaged cables repaired, but it was noted. A word about the pigtail delay from AXON: P. Pailler had some background info that the connector supplier was in financial trouble!! No more details though. Cryostat delivery? Well, at the beginning of the week I heard the date of March 8th. By Wednesday it was March 15th, then at the integration meeting yesterday I was hearing the end of March .... with F/T integration slated for May 1st. P. Pailler was called to SIMIC in a bit of a rush on Wednesday because "ice balls were forming on the outside of the "warm" vessel during the cold test". Could this mean yet another delay???? I have no more details on this item either. Agenda for next week ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ - Milestones - Next shipment to CERN (both feedthroughs and people) - ASSO plans (preparation and travel) - Plans for the week - AOB
