Minutes of feedthrough meeting of 18 February, 2002. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Present: Pof, FH, PB, RKK, WW, ASD *) Milestones - ft25 final tests were completed. - ft27 cold tests were done, and passed. - ft28 was installed into the cold test station and is ready for cold tests today (18 Feb). - testing of pincarriers continues... *) Four feedthroughs are ready to be shipped my mid week, and four more feedthroughs should be ready to be shipped within a few days later. All eight should be at CERN in time for pof and Fiona to receive and test them. *) Half the bolt rings and all RF seals and O-rings will be shipped to CERN so that they arrive while pof and Fiona are there to receive them. The other half of the bolt rings will be shipped at a later date. *) 13 7-row and 27 8-row pincarriers arrived today (18 Feb), bringing us to a total of 263/275 7-row and 275/275 8-row pincarriers. According to the accompanying paperwork, Glasseal seems to believe there are no further 7-row pincarriers in back order, where in fact there should be twelve. However, since we only require 220 pincarriers of each type to build 55 feedthroughs, we have 263-220=43 spare 7-row pincarriers. Although we've already consumed some of those spares, 43 should provide an ample safety margin to complete the project. We therefore will probably not opt to press Glasseal for the remaining twelve 7-row pincarriers (provided they don't try to bill us...). *) Pof has arranged for Bob Hackenburg to send us a sample of the RJ11/RTD connection that BNL has farmed out to an outside specialty shop. Hopefully we can learn how to connect our RJ11's without having to resort to an out outside company. *) Latest news from Roy at CERN (dated 18 Feb): I heard from Aboud this morning that a leak was detected in the Cryostat when it was undergoing the cold test. This was "news" from Friday afternoon. By tomorrow, it will have been warmed up, and then starts the tedious task of finding out what is actually leaking on the cold vessel. Seals? Bellows?.... a crack in the structure? So Paul, I guess you have more time than you need for F/T production!! Apparently, two options are being discussed: Accepting the Cryostat and doing any repair at CERN, BUT, we all know how long the Barrel leak is taking!!!! OR, leaving it at SIMIC until it is perfect. Any way you look at it, we have another delay. Cheers, Roy Agenda for next week ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ - Milestones - Manpower coverage while Pof and Fiona are at CERN - Plans for the week - AOB
