Minutes of Feedthrough Meeting of 17 June 02 ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Present: Pof, PB, FH, WW, ML, AD Milestones: - Final electrical tests were completed for ft44, ft45, and ft46. - ft46 and ft47 were successfully cold tested. - ft48 and ft49 are being welded today (17 June). *) Wendy found that the four leads of one RTD in ambient flange heater number 007 were all shorted togeter. Neil investigated and found that the source of the short was in the potted RTD, not in the wiring. *) Two "four packs" of Standard and/or Special feedthroughs will be shipped to CERN this week for Wendy to work on while at CERN in July. *) Cabling of the last HEC feedthrough should commence early this week. *) PB will depart for CERN on Friday this week (21 June) to assist Aboud with the preparations for feedthrough installation on ECC. *) Richard has sent us the following notes from today's LARG week C&C general meeting at CERN: Cryostats and cryogenics meeting June 17 2002 ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ 1. Pierre Paillier a. Barrel feedthroughs (64) installed + 5 cryolines + a dump valve. All finished on April 26,2002. b. Film http://cern.ch/aleksa/b180 video.htm c. Barrel vacuum cycled 5 times - found some small o-ring leaks that were fixed. d. Pressure test failed with large leaks at 2.3 Bar. The leak was on the A side Omega seal. The reason was super-insulation caught between the bulkhead and the outer cold vessel flange. Fix by mid July e. Deformation of the vessel under pressure was as expected. f. HT FT installed in September - some cleanliness issues need to be solved. 2. Christophe a. Barrel vacuum manifolds: A good vacuum and a bad vacuum manifold at each end. b. Good vacuum manifold is being installed c. Bad vacuum manifold is being redesigned - no reason given d. Endcap manifold drawings are done 3. RKK (send talk URL to Pierre) a. Talk went fine. b. Pierre has several comments: c. ECC pressure, vacuum and cold tests all passed ok d. Worried about telephone jack but thought it carried 3 amps. I told him it was only for the temperature readout and not the heater power. e. Pigtails should be decided this week. Hopefully go ahead with production and test as soon as possible 4. Highvoltage feedthrough report a. Breakdown current from PEEK insulation being nicked at sharp edge of Douglas epoxy. This happened during cleaning and handling b. NOTE speaker claims that are 45 m3 of LAR in barrel. Is this true when the barrel is full of detectors? c. Solution is to change epoxy. New epoxy must be tested for lar pollution in Dubna in September. d. Will need to flow dry air into filter box all the time the experiment is running. Therefore an airpipe needs to be installed. 5. Aboud a. Cold test has just finished successfully - big relief b. There were some surprises. There was not enough super-insulation. The warm tube became 2 deg C and there was 2cm of water in the "tube" c. FT installation should start between June 26 and July 7. The early date is when the "tubes" (?) can be cut 6. Serge ECA a. SIMIC milling machine being repaired. b. Outside machining is finished c. Starting on inside machining d. Vacuum tests at SIMIC in Sept and Oct e. Delivery at CERN Jan 30, 2003 f. Ready for use Feb 28,2003 g. Pierre says that SIMIC still has problems with the milling machine 7. Allain Gonidec a. External cryogenics i. First LN2 tank leaked - fixed ii. LAR storage vessel started iii. LN2 fridge started iv. 1.2 Km of cryolines awarded 2.1MSFR b. Proximity cryogenics i. 1 valve box arrived ii. expansion vessel in production iii. Proximity cryolines still need design work and a draughtsperson c. B180 cryogenics i. Cryoplatform delivered ii. FT heater control tested and in production iii. 10 filter boxes delivered and installed Agenda for next week ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ -Milestones -Plans for the week -AOB
