Minutes of feedthrough meeting of 12 November, 2002. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Present: Pof, FH, ML *) Feedthrough integration on ECC is expected to start on December 2. Pof and Fiona have made travel arrangements to be at CERN to assist with feedthrough installation, departing Victoria on 29 November, returning 20 December. Travel arrangements for January will be made once pof and Fiona are at CERN to assess the situation. *) Michel has learned from Patrick Puzo that the online results consistently showed no pollution from the replacement micro-D material under neutron irradiation. The final offline analysis, however, is not expected to be completed until sometime in December, so the final shipment of five feedthroughs will be held until sometime in the new year when pof and Fiona return for the next round of feedthrough installation. *) There was an unfortunate misunderstanding at CERN concerning one of the Standard type endcap signal feedthroughs, ft26. Aboud had placed ft26 (which has already had its funnel cut) on the insertion jig, outside the feedthrough storage area, presumably to work out some final details concerning the installation procedures. The feedthrough was well protected by bubble wrap and protective plates, however it somehow came to be understood by others (while Aboud was away on holidays) that this was a "mockup" or "insertion model" feedthrough, and was consequently used to investigate procedures for cleaning one of the barrel feedthroughs (mounted at the 6 o'clock position) that apparently has had metal chips dropped down to the cold flange. Those involved with the cleaning investigation on ft26, while believing it to be a mockup, nonetheless don't believe any damage was done. Pof will assess the situation when at CERN in December. Aboud has meanwhile been asked to put ft26 back in its storage box. *) The small package of pigtails that arrived last week contained the four pigtails (6587, 6606, 6608, and 6611) that had been returned to ORSAY for repair to the ATI sockets at channel 50. All four have now passed their reception tests. *) According to the minutes of the November 11 b180 weekly integration meeting, the installation of the pedestals and warm cables might be postponed until after the pressure / vacuum test of the installed feedthroughs (March 2003) due to a clearance problem between the T1 support structure and four of the pedestals. This will likely necessitate an additional trip to CERN by pof and Fiona. The original idea was to start pedestals and warm cable installation in parallel with feedthrough installation, after the first few feedthroughs are installed. *) Neil (uvic electronics shop) now has all the parts to complete the bent-pin and cross-channel-short indicators to be used during warm cable installation, as well as the pigtail ATI / baseplane interface for use during the post-installation cross talk tests. These will be sent to CERN to be tested in December. *) Fiona will start the final inventory and organization of spare feedthrough parts later this month. *) Most of the electrical test equipment in the UVIC feedthrough shop has been boxed up for safe storage. The cold test station also needs to be cleaned up and organized for long term storage. *) NO MEETING NEXT WEEK 18 NOVEMBER. Next meeting at 10:00 am 25 November.
