Minutes of feedthrough meeting of 24 February, 2003. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Present: Pof, FH, PB, ML *) All 25 feedthroughs, heaters, and pedestals have been installed on ECC, as well as the warm cables, baseplanes, and other assorted plumbing. The cryostat is now sealed with the warm and cold covers and the fcal structure, and pumping of the insulating volume between the cryostat walls is underway in preparation for the pressure test (2.5 bar of helium above atmosphere) in the cryostat central volume scheduled for Thursday 27 February. Any potential leaks in the feedthrough or chimney o-rings would be detected during the pressure test. *) ECC will be rotated to the axis horizontal orientation after the pressure test. The long pigtails (HEC and FCAL feedthroughs) must be strain relieved and secured to the cryostat wall before the rotation to prevent exessive pulling by the weight of the pigtails on the cold flange ATI connectors. Roy has agreed to help Aboud with this. *) Aside from the first feedthrough installed, no electrical cross talk tests have yet been carried out on the ECC feedthroughs. These will be done by pof and Fiona during a 24 March - 2 May trip to CERN. The cryostat will, however, then be in an axis horizontal orientation, making access to the feedthroughs rather more challenging. The reception tests for nine remaining feedthroughs will also be done during the same trip. *) The electrical test gizmos made by Neil in the UVIC electronics shop worked very well during the warm cable installation, preventing a number of bent pins which would have been very cumbersome to repair later. These test gizmos only work, however, for those slots with T47, T48, or T52 pigtails (i.e., the pigtails with micro-D connectors). There is still some chance that we will encounter bent pins in the HEC slots when we do the cross talk tests. *) Neil is working on the ambient flange heaters for ECA. Once completed and tested, they will be shipped to CERN to arrive while pof and Fiona are there. *) The issue regarding the hot/ground wires for the heaters (our heaters have a fuse upstream of each power resistor, which is only functional if it is on the "hot" side of the resistor) has finally been settled - we simply chose for ourselves how to connect the heater wires to the filter box and then informed ORSAY (Patrick Cornabise) of our decision. The appropriate wiring will then be done at the power supply. *) ECA is still scheduled to ship from SIMIC on 17 April (but don't hold your breath...). Feedthrough integration would be expected to commence about one month later.
