Feedthrough Meeting 20/06/97 - HEC low voltage vacuum cable Terry reported on his FEA analysis of the temperature distribution of the vacuum cable along its length. He will send an email soon on his results. Margret to draw a ps figure to go with Terry's work. [done]. Assuming 0.5A, there is no way that the standard vacuum cables can be used. A factor of 4 seems needed in the Cu cross-section area. It is very likely that 8 connectors per quadrant will be needed AND that a special vacuum cable will have to be produced. - RGA based Leak Tester Pof proposed a RGA leak tester design that would allow 2 well defined sensitivity settings. A few remarks: - when all will be added, this RGA leak tester will not be cheap contrary to what I though before (over $35k is we include a clean roughing pump), though a crude startup system could be put together using existing vacuum components purchasing only the RGA and one calibrated leak (about $15k). - there was a concerned about the time needed to pump the tester to operation condition between each use. We are looking for fast turnaround. - Pof to gather costs fo the various items, and of a He commercial leak tester. Terry also noted that portability, in the case of a commercial He leak tester, will be important since it is likely that certified welds will have to take place outside UVic. - Margret and Richard at LARG week Michel to write an email concerning issues to follow during LArg week.
