Feedthrough Meeting 29/08/97 present: P. Birney, M. Fincke-Keeler, T. Hodges, R. Keeler, M. Lefebvre, P. Poffenberger - Latest FEA results Terry extended the cool-down time to 2h in his FEA analysis on the flange with carriers. The worse temperature difference between the flange and the carrier occurs after 15 min, and leads to stresses of about 130 MPa, which is about half the yield stress of stainless steel. For a safe cooling of the equipped flange, the cooling rate needs to be reduced. It is believed that the cooling foreseen for our test setup, i.e. by the edge of the flange, is appropriate. This is to be verified by Terry [done, and it's ok]. - Vacuum cables Paul pointed out two types of Cu: rolled and anealed, and electrodeposited. Richard to check which type is currently being used. This is particularly important in view on the mechanical properties of thicker Cu that might be needed for the low voltage carrying cables. - Review A feedthrough review will be held in CERN on October 13th, followed by two days of cryostats reviews. Richard pointed out that we should mention that we developed confidence in the design. Terry, Roy and Michel will attend. Margret will attend if available. - Cable tester Richard suggested that Margret should put us down on the waiting list to receive a demo with LabView driver. - Purchase requisition Pof has finalised the purchase requisition for the RGA and gauges. [Michel signed it]. Paul is to prepare the purchase requisition for the purpose build crosses. [Paul now has all the needed quotes. Michel will sign it Tuesday 02/09/97]. - Leak test station Paul presented an update of the leak test station drawings that now feature a stand. - GSC visit The GSC site visit is scheduled Monday September 15th. Paul and Margret are to present their work in the ATLAS lab room, assisted by Michel. - leak test station drawing, poster size - feedthrough assembly drawings, poster size - something on the PC based LabView DAQ - project shedule Terry and Roy are to present their work in Roy's room - Some nice FEA plots and feedthrough drawings. - ATLAS meetings dates: - Sep 08 - Sep 12 : Standard ATLAS week - Sep 15 : GSC visit to UVic - Oct 06 - Oct 10 : LARG week - Oct 13 - Oct 15 : Feedthrough and Cryostats Review - Nov 17 - Nov 21 : Overview ATLAS week - Dec 08 - Dec 12 : ??
