FeedThrough Meeting April 15, 1998 RK,MF,RL,TH,AH,PP,PB attended. 1. Model status (MF,PB) A protoype cable has been made by Paul. It is an excellent model of the actual cable using machined aluminum for the connector and mylar for the striplines. MF will start mass producing the machined parts this week. PB is working for CJO on drawings for rule dies and kapton. He expects to finish this by April 23. 2. Construction Procedure (MF,PB) The construction procedure is waiting for the model pieces. MF has done drawings of connectors with the orientations detailed. She asked AH to help finalize the drawings using AutoCad. 3. Bellows (RL,TH) Bellows are on hold waiting for the warm flange to be finalized. Terry is doing FEA calculations with the new weld prep. In particular the effect of adding a weld prep groove (6 mm wide and 4 mm deep) is being studied. This was requested in the March LARG week. Its purpose is to allow in situ repair of the welds. The FEA analysis indicates the design has problems with excessive stress at some points for 3.4 Bar pressure. Terry is working on some small mods to fix this problem. he expects it wll take 1-2 weeks to finalize this work. 4. Stripline status. (MF) Margret has released a low voltage feedthrough report. It details a proposal to handle the latest low voltage current values quoted by MPI. The report also reports Terry's calculation of the temperature difference between pins, which is fortunately small. Ernie went to Strataflex yeserday. he has not reported back yet. Startaflex has the cables and should be finishing with them soon. Margret is expecting to go to ottawa next week. Margret has heard back from BNL. They confirm her observations. She will forward Don's email to the relevant people. 5. Refrigerator stauts (AH) The parts for the refrigerator are machined and are being welded. The welds are being He leak tested. The cold test of the compressor is being set up. A number of pieces had to be made to do the tests. The new temperature monitor has arrived and will be tested at the same time. The pin carrier basket has been finalized and the components will be ordered this week. 6. Cold test setup (PB) The scroll pump has arrived. The large metal pieces are at external shops to be machined. They are expected back in a week. They will need some in house welding. 7. Construction jigs (PB) A prototype for the construction jig is being assembled along with the model.
