Minutes for the meeting Tuesday 3 August, 1999. Present RL/TH/RM/AD/GV/PP/ML 1. Aaron gave a status report on porting the feedthrough production timeline to MicroSoft Project. He has encountered a few technical difficulties concerning the apparent inability of MicroSoft Project to deal with repeated tasks in a nice way. Aaron will check the bookstore for better documentation, and possibly also look into other software options, including a newer version of MicroSoft Project. 2. Roy gave a status report on the Drawings. All detailed drawings are finished, as are the two flange / pincarrier subassemblies (warm and cold). All completed drawings will be plotted and made available to PB, AD, and GV for their perusal. Two more drawings remain: warm flange / bellows / vacuum cables / cold flange and warm flange / vacuum cables / bellows / cold flange / pigtails / funnel Mark expects to be free from TRIUMF commitments by the end of this week to pursue the final two drawings. He expects a maximum of two weeks will be required to finish the task, thus allowing one or two weeks for internal perusal by the group before release to CERN. 3. The contract has now gone out for the seal ring and the cuff ring, so we are still on schedule to receive the five completed bellows assemblies by 7 October. 4. Rob gave a summary of the status of LabView VI's he has written over the summer: a) Various oscilloscope drivers for the Tektronics 2440 digital scope. b) A VI for the UBC scanner. This is still in a very preliminary state, since we are still awaiting the UBC fanout device. c) The VI for the micro-ohmmeter measuring device (PHRED and the Keithley 580 micro-ohmmeter) is completed. d) Some basic drivers for the network analyser. These will need to be completed once the RF switching hardware is decided upon and in place. e) One generic and several specific camac interfaces: i) KS 3989 crate controller (various function-specific VI's) ii) KS 3461 manual input register iii) CES 1320 output register iv) Lecroy 2249W ADC v) Lecroy 2301 QVT CAMAC interface Rob will perform a `VI knowledge dump' to Pof and Mike before he leaves at mid month. 5. George Stenning at purchasing services has approached the provincial government about waiving the PST for items to be exported. It appears (but not confirmed yet) that the PST *will* be waived. George has also approached the federal government about waiving the full GST on items to be exported (we currently get all but 3% back). These discussions are still ongoing. 6. Roy's interface drawings, which include enlargements of the weld details, have been placed on the CERN CAD site. Terry has sent an email to Alberto Desirelli and Andrea Catinaccio at TIS to let them know where to find the drawings, and requesting comments on the acceptability of the welds and also on test procedures. The next feedthrough meeting will take place on monday, 9 August at 10:00. The proposed agenda is: 1) (Aaron) Update on feedthrough production timeline. 2) (Aaron and Greg) Status of testing jigs. 3) (Roy and Mark) Drawings update. 4) AOB. --------------------------------------------------- Paul Poffenberger phone (250) 721 7741 Dept of Physics fax (250) 721 7752 University of Victoria email pof@uvic.ca ---------------------------------------------------
