Minutes for the meeting on Monday, 9 August, 1999. Present: RL/MR/GV/PB/RK/MF/PP 1) Aaron was unable to attend the meeting to give a full report on progress with the feedthrough production timeline. In a nutshell, Aaron is now working with MS Project 98 (a newer version than what he was working with earlier) which apparently has at least some features which makes the job easier, although some of the difficulties discussed at last week's meeting remain. 2) Greg produced a document summarizing the status of testing jigs. That document is included here: 1 Make jig that accommodates the VCR vacuum fitting on the warm flanges - Jig has been desinged - requires two Stainless steel rings 1/2" Status: Waiting on material 2 Modify base plate of warm leak test station for leak testing cold flange. - Due to new flange designs, the cold flange OD is larger and so the test station requires modifications. Status: Complete 3 Make alignment tool for assembly jig to accommodate the notch on the bellows seal ring. - No new material needed Stautus: In progress 4 Design and make rotating sling to maneuver the completed feedthrough assemblies between horizontal and vertical orientations. -Design has been completed Status: ---Need to ask Aaron--- 5 Modify the assembly jig #1 - Clearance of the 150mm CF flange and 4" channel mounting needed Status: Complete 6 Modify assembly Jig #2 - Need to add 4" Channel and make crank for rotating fixture Status: ---Need to ask Aaron--- 7 Leakcheck large pigtail bucket - waiting for vacuum station modifications to be completed Status: On hold 8 Various modifications for vacuum station - Designs have been completed Status: Waiting for completion of two thermal tests. 9 Cut Rohacell to required shapes - Designs complete - Will require some sort of cutting for production, eg, Rule Die Status: On hold 10 Make holding fixture to machine copper gaskets for the bottom of the cold funnel for cold leak checks. - Designs complete Status: Complete 11 Make beam crane for second I beam. - Designs complete - waiting on winch, rope and angle steel Status: Waiting on material 12 Pressure Test Bellows - Designs complete - Construction of test equipment complete Status: Waiting on Bellows 13 Design / Order crates for shipping feedthroughs Status: Not Started 14 Insulate Large pigtail bucket with external styrofoam - Designs complete - No new material needed - Need to wait until bucket is leakchecked, - can't be done until changes to vacuum station are complete Status: On hold 15 Insulate small pigtail bucket - Designs complete - No new material needed Status: Construction to be started this week 16 Make Pin carrier protector plates, approx. 40 of each Status: Complete 17 Design method to add thermalcouple inside bellows Status: Not started 18 Make new fixture to leakcheck bellows - Designs complete - Requires: 11" ID O-ring to clamp on outside of cuff ring. (1) Alum plate 3/4" x 350mm dia. and (1) Alum ring 3/8" x 350 dia. Status: Waiting on material 3) Roy reported that the `detail drawings' are 98% complete. Most of what remains is feedback from PB, GV, and AD (who now have copies of the drawings) and also the design of the cable clip for pigtail strain relief. Roy pointed out that these `detail drawings' are the highest priority. Mark is still tied up with TRIUMF work, but should be able to start work on the assembly drawings by mid week. We are still on track to finish all drawings by 1 September. 4) Work is in progress by Richard, Margret and Pof on technical and legal documents to be included with the RFQ for the Berg vacuum cables. The next feedthrough meeting will take place on monday, 16 August at 10:00. The proposed agenda is: 1) (Aaron) Update on feedthrough production timeline. 2) (Aaron and Greg) Brief update on the status of testing jigs (ie, fill in the bits of information missing from the list above). 3) (Roy, Mark, Paul, Aaron, and Greg) Drawings update. 4) (Terry) Brief update on correspondence with TIS regarding welding test requirements. 5) AOB. 6) Agenda for meeting on 23 August. --------------------------------------------------- Paul Poffenberger phone (250) 721 7741 Dept of Physics fax (250) 721 7752 University of Victoria email pof@uvic.ca ---------------------------------------------------
