Feedthrough Meeting October 4, 1999

Horst Brettel arrived and attended our meeting. As a postscript
it was a useful visit. Paul P and Margret will produce some notes
to include in next Tuesday meeting.

1. Quality plan. Aaron and Paul will have a draft by the end of
the week.

2. Milestones. 
 - Paul B will put days besides all the milestones in his figure.
 - Paul P has Corell software to make nice calendar output.
   ! MR needs to set up PC. This is now pressing.
 - RFQ for Production flanges has gone out.
 - Need to decide about 1/2 inch vs 3/4 inch vacuum port on warm
flange. CERN and BNL are working on this. Need to sort this out
at LARG week.
 - 30 pigtails are measured and Paul P has made a 64X64 Xtalk scan
to show during LARG week.
 - PO for 10 FCI-Berg qualification cables has gone out from TRIUMF.
 - Pin Carriers have been leak checked. 2 out of 8 leak, each on one
pin only. They have been shipped back to Glasseal.
        - cold test remaining 6 next week.
 - Prototype flanges will be finished by Vector machining by Oct. 12.
 - Specific Eng has made funnel tube. UVIc shop has made funnel base.
Specific will start welding when the Vectorshop finishes the flanges.

3. Tis news - nothing to report.
 - Paul Birney is going to contact Mainz and see if they received our 
dye test samples. No word from Mainz yet.

5. Pigtail restraint system.
The first prototype had problems. A new concept exists but will
wait until after LARG week before Mark can draw it up.
Does Aboud need simulated pigtails in his mechanical feedthrough?
He has not answered email recently.

6. Shipping crate - on hold.

7. "Dryness"
Early prototype pigtails were used in thermal tests. Condensation
caused them to rust. PB says this cannot happen in production tests.

Agenda for next meeting
NOTE, Monday is Thanksgiving. The meeting will be at 10:00 on Tuesday
Oct. 12. I will have to teach at 12:30 so I will ask Margret to chair
the second half of the meeting.
