Minutes Of Feedthrough Meeting November 1, 1999 Present: RL/PP/PB/TH/GV/MR/MLenck/RK 1. Milestones - no steel TH is chasing it through purchasing. - no gland decison - Certification of Welding: - Roy met with Tom at Specific - Weld coupons+PQS(?) needed - Specific is preparing a quote - 304L SS - Tensile and Notch test - It will take a couple of weeks before we can get stuff ready to send to TIS - Production machining: - Roy visited Sicom and EBCO - Both companies looked good and understood the problems - will split job to get best price. - Sicom will do Bolt ring, funnel base, seal ring, cuff ring, and lower funnel tube - PO signed Nov. 2 - EBCO will do cold and warm flanges - PO will go out soon - Received pin carriers have all been cold cycled 3 times and vac tested - three more pin carriers arrived Nov. 1 - will be vac and cold tested 2. Bellows Roy called BOA - 1 out of 5 bellows leaks - BOA is examing this problem very carefully. - We proposed to tell BOA we can take the leaky one for the insertion test module. *** - RFQ will be delayed 2 weeks while we check out bellows after arrival and discuss the leak problem with BOA 3. Cables - FCI cables should arrive this week. RKK will keep an eye on them. - Axon now has a West Canada sales rep that we have to work with. -RFQ is being prepared for LV vac, LV pigtail and T51 pigtails. - Ask for x soon and y cables later. We need to make sure they are ok but do not need them all for some time. - MF is searching for a supplier for Preci-dip connectors to test hec pigtails. 4. Notes from LARG meeting - Cryostat 3 months late - Sicom will machine pipe for Aboud. Roy will send him a quote and ask him to raise a purchase order. We will have machining done and hold it until we get a PO. - Kane and TIS have gone another round! How do we get an agreement? - TH will contact TIS when we have Canadian welding documentation. - Feedthrough installation - TH worried about burning pigtails during installation of FT into the cryostat. NB! TH will email Aboud and Pierre suggesting that a water cooled jacket be inserted into the funnel during welding. - Aboud wants fake pigtails in the insertion module - Aboud wants to be able to pump out the funnel assembly - BNL will not do a precision measurement of the vac cable resistances. The reason is that pigtail resisitances will dominate. This is not in fact correct and MF is writing up a calculation that shows this. - Heating resistors - still many questions about how to do this. I think we will need to do our own research but it can wait until the prototype -1, the insertion module and the TIS funnel is completed. 5. Mark is working on a mark-2 design for the cable restraint. 6. Next Agenda - Bellows status - Steel order status - FCI cables
