Feedthrough meeting, December 13, 1999 Present GV/AD/TH/PB/PP/MLenc/RK 1. The university has requested we shut down and unplug all equipment in the lab. We have agreed to leave two ion pumps running. 2. Milestones - 8 pin carriers arrived today. There was 4 of each size. - We got a dummy cable from FCI today. It is better made but the insertion force is similar. - Paul is making up a list of items to keep in mind when we go to FCI. - Micro D connectors arrived. - Insertion module has been sent to Orsay. - Roy is talking to the BOA company about the bellows. 3. News from larg week. - Terry, Roy and Desirelli had a very useful meeting on welding issues. We are now going ahead making test coupons and finishing the funnel for the TIS tests. - Terry will talk to Tom Goldberg. - Kane is supposed to calculate the fracture mechanics for the pin carrier weld. 4. Steel - The company has lost part of the order ( 8 row pin carrier). Terry, purchasing and BNL are trying to find out exactly what they will deliver and when. 5. Vacuum port (gland) - The gland problem has not been resolved at CERN. We will propose (Terry and Roy) that a 3/4 inch (16mm) standard conflat fitting be used. 6. NEWS from SNO. The travel budget of all US government labs has been halved. Expect to see our colleagues less. 7. FCI - CJO, MF and RK will visit this week. - We have a quote to change the jackscrew and it is very reasonable. - We will order two more sample cables. - We can pay the fixed charges now as a good will gesture. 8. Jan Soukop (Alberta) visited last week to look at the mechanics of the feedthroughs. 9. The cable restraint was controversial at CERN. - Roy should send in updated drawings for the threaded holes in the cold flange and a detail drawing of the restraint system. We will see if we can get them signed off. 10. Agenda December 20 , 10:00 am 1. milestones 2. FCI trip results 3. Steel saga 4. Welding coupons etc..
