Michel
pointed out that it is time to get the abstracts ready for the WRNPP
conference, and to arrange travel for those who are going.
Tayfun's abstract is ready. He read it out to the group and
everybody thought it was good.
Tayfun
reported that he reproduced all the EMEC Ntuples with Naoko's
new code (ie, new weights).
With the new Ntuples, he ran his position resolution study on his
`good run list' and found that requirements for this run-list needs
to be improved, in particular the timing selection.
He showed plots of the position resolution obtained with the second
EMEC layer as a function of beam energy. It was obvious from the plot,
that the selection needs more work, but the machinery is in place now
to modify the selection and rerun the analysis quickly.
A close eye should be kept on the individual fits - some points looked
like they were too good to be true, which could be due to a fit gone awry.
Tamara
used the new EMEC Ntuples and looked at the response vs timing phase
for the runs she is analyzing. She finds that there isn't really
any significant change in the behaviour, but hasn't had the chance
to figure out yet, why she doesn't see an improvement whereas
Tayfun and Naoko do. Michel pointed out that nobody has looked at the
effects of the new weights in hadron runs yet. Maybe it could have to
do with the fact that electron showers have small clusters with
lots of energy in each cells whereas hadron showers have large clusters
with only a little bit of energy in each cell.
Margret
continues to study the G4 code. She has simulated an x-scan of 150 GeV
electrons (from xcryo= -26cm to +26cm) for Tamara to look at.
She also has the feeling that the `left' and `right' leakage counters
are reversed. This appears to be confirmed by some simple plots
obtained from the x-scan runs. An email has been sent to Pavol
w.r.t. this.
As a cute aside, Margret also showed a picture of the testbeam setup
as obtained with the G4 visualization tool.
Richard
mentioned that Asok would be willing to install our G4 code
on mercury, where jobs would run significantly faster. Everybody
agreed that that would be a good idea. Margret will instruct
Asok as to what is needed for the setup.
