Kai reported on his EtMiss analysis. Results are compared for Z+jet(s) events with and without calorimeter cell problems simulated. The latter consisted in turning off 9 HV lines (about 1%), and disconnecting 4 feedthroughs (2 crates) worth of signal lines. Comparisons are reported for SumEt and EtMiss; difference are larger for EtMiss since one expects a small EtMiss even without calorimeter problems.
Rolf reported on his efforts to run CaloNoiseTool and SimpleNoiseTool. He is experiencing problems using CaloNoiseTool with EMEC-HEC 2002 ESD Pool files. Rolf will now focus on using only SimpleNoiseTool on Pool files.
Michel reported on his short term plans regarding the production of a few hopefully robust noise files for use with the EMEC-HEC 2002 data in Athena.
Ashok reported on the progress toward creating databases locally
at UVic so that testbeam jobs can run faster with no dependence on
CERN.
There are 4 main database servers which are required for running
the testbeam reconstruction jobs.
(i) atlasdev1.cern.ch
(ii) atlasdbpro.cern.ch
(iii) atlobk01.cern.ch
(iv) atlobk02.cern.ch
atladev1.cern.ch mysql database is replicated and is available
on fate-1 for testing under the directory /hepuser/atlas/atlas-kit/mysql.
atlasdbpro.cern.ch mysql database installation is in progress.
Richard Hawkings suggested that the last 2 databases atlobk01 and atlobk02
are on for production databases and that they are not be replicated at
remote sites unless UVic plans to do reconstruction at large. Rob and
Ashok will pursue further with Richard the possibility to create replica of these
databases, if CERN policies allow us to do so.
Note that conditions data for the 2004 combined testbeam is
stored in POOL ROOT files at CERN. Outside CERN, these root files are not
accessible from castor as the transfer and access fail and hence your
jobs will fail too.
The only way to run the reconstruction of 2004 testbeam jobs is by making
these POOL ROOT files available locally at UVic. Richard Hawkings has
provided Ashok with the tar file from which was obtained the POOL ROOT files on the
fates under the directory /hepuser/atlas/poolroot. To access these
root files, changes in your job option files are to be made.
Further, atladev1.cern.ch mysql database and POOL ROOT files will be
installed on mercury2 within a few days. Once it is done, Ashok will inform
us, so tests can be made.
