Talks were given by Michel, Kai, Warren, Isabel, Margret and Marco. Please refer to their slides for the content of their talks.
Warren's investigation of the Emec energy scale factors
are still not fully understood. Rob suggested to cross-check
whether the FEB cabling of the channels had been properly taken
into account.
Rob also suggested that Warren pick a couple of cells in the
middle layer and look at those cells for two different beam
impact positions. With that it should be easier to draw a
comparison between what Warren is fitting and what Pavol gives
in the database.
Marco compared reconstructed energies obtained with OFC's
versus Cubic Fit. He obtained some very different results
for the HEC leptonic reconstruction in athena 10.4.1 versus
athena 8.x. Some guessing went on as to what could cause such an
effect. Rob suggested to successively turn on/off in the jobOptions
the scale-factors that are to be applied. Mike suggested that it
looks very much like there is some default pion rejection going on in 10.4.1
After my talk this morning I looked at Run 734 (120 GeV Positron Hitting the HEC only) again but this time not applying the beam quality tool. The result is here. As you can see we again have the second peak at a lower energy as I had last year ( lower right hand side of page 16 on todays talk ). Therefore we are not dealing with pions that disappeared as we were puzzled by, but in fact positrons that lost energy due to synchrotron radiation while being bent by the bend 9 magnet. The effect is large for that beam impact point since that was the bend 9 bending maximum.
Having straightened that out we are still left with the lower response
which I will look at next :-) ....
bye,
Marco
After the discussion during the meeting this morning, I went back and
double checked which sampling each channel belongs to. Sure enough, I had
swapped which Rinj factor should be applied to which sampling. I've
corrected my code and updated and cleaned up my plots, and the agreement
between my ramps and the DB values has improved. I've reloaded the
corrected slides onto the agenda for today's meeting...feel free to look
at the
updated slides.
Cheers,
Warren
