HEC1 in ECA
August 2004

Pictures of the Endcap Cryostat A with the first HEC wheel inserted in it, 18 August 2004. Provided by Roy Langstaff, who also provided the following comments:
"As of 17:00 hrs today (August 18th 2004) the HEC1 'A' wheel is sitting against its stops in the ECA cryostat. This insertion was similar to that of HEC1 'C'; there were no problems at all. The permaglide rails inside the cryostat were monitored via mirror and flashlight during the insertion process but nothing of note was observed. The insertion tooling will be dismantled tomorrow morning and the survey is scheduled to begin in the afternoon. From initial observations it seems likely the wheel is within +/- 1mm of the intended lateral position."

A last look at the rear face of the EMEC wheel taken from above, and to the right of, the horizontal centreline. The left-hand support rail inside the cryostat can be seen close to the 11 o'clock position in the picture.

This is a view looking through the HEC1 'A' wheel at the rear face of the EMEC. At this position there was approximately 1.5 metres between the two wheels

An image showing the wheel in place.
