CRISLER TRAVERSE DAY 5
|
Mount Ferry [349 Kb]
|
The weather on day 5 of our
Crisler Traverse
remained dry as we left Mount Carrie further behind and made
our way deeper into the Olympic back country. The route continued
to traverse the steep southwest slopes of the Bailey Range until we
reached Stephen Peak where the terrain eased.
Along the way we sat and
watched a couple of black bears digging in the meadows nearby.
Cream Lake, the site of Herb Crisler's cabin,
could be seen several hundred meters below.

Small tarn at camp 4 [160 Kb]
|
We reached the lake basin below Mount Ferry relatively
early in the day. The setting was beautiful and we needed
some time to dry out our gear, so we designated this
to be camp 4.
After setting up camp and airing out our gear, we spent the
remainder of the afternoon and evening exploring
and taking pictures around the camp site.
We would be well rested and with dry gear before continuing
on with
day 6,
along the backbone of the Bailey Range.
