MONT TENDRE

Mont Tendre, at 1679 metres, is the highest point in the Swiss Jura.
I had been to the
Col du Marchairuz
four months earlier for a snowshoe walk and decided to return
to the area for a leisurely Sunday afternoon walk on June 11 2006.
Although Mont Tendre is the highest mountain in the Swiss Jura, it is
little more than a high point along a long ridge, with no significant elevation change
between it and the Col du Marchairuz.
This walk follows eight kilometers of the Chemin des crêtes du Jura,
which runs the full length of the Swiss Jura.
The scenery along the trail are typical of the open forest and meadows
of the Jura.
There can also be grand views of the Berne and Valais Alps if
the weather permits.
